Simple indeed, can't disagree. His quote reminds me of Terence Young's quote on why Dr. No was a success. "Three reasons: Sean Connery, Sean Connery, and Sean Connery".

Never doubt Sir Sean.

Great movies obviously. Classics. Sheer brilliance. I could go on.

However, I would be more impressed if he cited MR or YOLT.

I fear Craig's inspiration simply re-inforces his determination to do more serious drama-driven, character-driven Bond films, such as we've seen. Craig would say story-driven. I prefer drama-driven.

I think DN and FRWL are simply the films from the canon that are closest to his vision. As opposed to reflecting his vision. Both of these Connery classics are a lot more fun and lighter in tone, than anything Craig is likely to do.

But to each, his own cup of Bond java. Craig has his preferred brew and that's what we will get until he goes.

Well at least he didnt say DAF. Then we'd really be in the shit. ;)

Face it. DC has his vision of Bond and it aligns with DN and FRWL. We're not going to get any spectacle or slapstick with him. But if his films approximate DN and FRWL in quality--and CR did--then we should be pretty happy.

Both choices are the same as mine. None of the other films in the series hold a candle to the first two in terms of quality and I'm quite certain Skyfall won't either though I liked to be proved wrong.

Dr. No was a larger than life, supervillain with a metal hand, who lived in a highly extravagant top-secret island lair, built into natural rock formations, surrounded by outfitted henchmen, various workers, hi-tech installation, and sexy nurses, who was bent on wreaking havoc on the U.S. space program.

If he loves DN so much then maybe he could be reminded of the above and made to watch the last half of the film until the NO vibe penetrates, and he's screaming for supervillains, henchmen, lairs, big schemes and sexy outfitted nurses of his own to contend with.

Craig can also be reminded that FRWL featured the very escapist Spectre Island and the mother of all Bond supervillains, Blofeld ( with cat.)

I was thinking urologist, because someone is taking the piss out of us here.

I DO think we can get some spectacle ... question is whether they will hold on it long enough for it register as such, or if we'll have to resort to freezeframes a la QoS.

Given that Mendes has brought back Baird, I'm guessing he doesn't want a repeat of QUANTUM OF SOLACE's editing mishaps.

There's so many more interesting choices out there than Stewart Baird. i.e. Paul Hirsch.

I haven't seen GHOST PROTOCOL yet, but what I have seen suggests that the editing is very good. And, of course, he did well with the De Palma flicks and EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.

Nevertheless, I thought Baird's editing on CASINO ROYALE was consistently strong, and downright exceptional when it came to the action sequences. For a director who is making a first-time foray into blockbuster action, Baird is a reasonable choice.

Meh. A lot of the editing in CASINO ROYALE bored me, some of it came off as downright cheesy (the death of the airport bomber), though that's also down to the way it was shot.

Bring back Terry Rawlings. GOLDENEYE had terrific editing.

I think CR was well edited (and well shot, for that matter), but that could just be me thinking in relatives after QOS.

Probably. Compared to GOLDENEYE, it's nothing.
