We might niggle about which parts of CASINO ROYALE's score are worthwhile. There's a lot of dead weight, but putting together a playlist of the "good tracks" still gives me 30 minutes worth of score. Granted I meant moments within cues i.e. "Blunt Instrument" without the boring first half, "Dinner Jackets" without the RomCom pizz strings and piano intro (cut straight to the Bond theme) and cutesy suspense chord as Bond notices the tailored suit etc. |

Of course, 20 minutes out of a 90 minute score leaves a lot of lackluster material. With Arnold, I'm not sure that any one of his scores is really altogether that much better than another. The scores all have their moments. But the problem with Arnold's soundtracks is that the moments tend to be just moments. |

| Which is true of all the non-Barry soundtracks.
The thing is, there was only one John Barry and he cannot be replaced. In theory, dozens - hundreds - of talented composers are perfectly capable of coming up with a truly excellent Bond score.
But it hasn't happened yet.

| Mendes reckons the PTS could be four minutes long:

That doesn't seem to be enough. |

| Some important bits from that article: - Quote :
- Designing the opening sequence of the movie — which Mendes thinks may clock in at four minutes after four weeks of shooting — to capitalize on the diverse locations of Turkey, is certainly a step in the right direction.
- Quote :
- The scene is a multi-layered chase [prepare for minor spoilers] with Bond and his new partner Eve (Naomie Harris), hunting down the elusive Patrice (Ola Rapace). Bond pursues Patrice's Audi A5 in his own clunky Landrover, cornering him in the chaos of the market. Then he moves to the top of the roofs of Istanbul's famous Grand Bazaar (while on motorcycles), before wrapping things up in a high speed train foot chase. Behind them at all times are the Turkish police, ready to incarcerate both reckless drivers. If you thought nothing could rival the Madagascar construction chase in Casino Royale, Skyfall is ready to give it a shot.
- Quote :
- That's impressive, especially considering we were witnessing Day 103 of the Skyfall shoot (with another 30 left to go).
- Quote :
- Mendes is aiming to craft an old school thriller with his Bond entry, kicking things off with a bang to open up potential for a character-driven story in its wake.

That doesn't seem to be enough. It's not the size of the PTS that matters, it's how you use it.... |

In four minutes, Bond would go from a car chase to a shootout in the market, to a motorcycle chase to the train sequence. It's just not enough time. I have, however, heard other reports suggesting that the PTS will be ten minutes long, which seems like a much better figure for it. |

Mendes may have meant after four weeks of filming in Turkey so far, it has resulted in 4 minutes of actual PTS....but they're in Turkey for 3 months. It's possible he was referring to what's been completed so far, 4 minutes of the entire sequence. Ten minutes sounds more realistic. I'm wondering what the hell was done to those Audis to need a new one each time... |

I'm guessing that the Audi is disabled in the marketplace crash, andd the front end is visibly damaged. |
