This IS CRAP!

ABSOLUTE CRAP!

this movie looks more like those 2 B-Movies that came out last year about Rent-A-Cops!!

What were they thinking when they greenlighted the script?

This is an ABSOLUTE Insult and Disgrace toward one of the BEST TV Series ever from the 80s!!

This was just an excuse to slap the name of a good tv show on a crappy script and movie so they can get the people to come out and buy tickets for it!!

Brand name recognition. That's all it is.

I laughed. Several times.

I'm suitably ashamed of myself.

Well, yeah, it has some laughs. The problem is, this resembles nothing like the show 21 Jump Street. The tone is all wrong, and just like with the Mission:Impossible movie series, they've completely abandoned everything that worked for the show and changed it in the movie. In both teleivsion series, there were always 4-5 main characters, yet in these two films the team concept has been abandoned for Tom Cruise to star alone in his own set of MI films, and for Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill to carry 21 Jump Street.

At least with Cruise's Mission Impossible movies the tone was somewhat right. In this 21 Jump Street movie, they're almost mocking the television show and playing the premise for laughs instead of making it gritty and realistic.

I saw a new preview of the film during the playoffs over the weekend, and everything I was GOING to say I see that I already said 10 weeks ago. This film is going to be a total bomb at the box office. It looks nothing like the series. Like they weren't even trying. This movie is just phoning it in. It's what happens when you let a writer who "thinks" he's making an homage to a cherished, childhood favorite actually make something that desecrates and defiles the memory of the original.

It's like THE DUKES OF HAZZARD movie all over again: trashing the original concept for a couple of cheap, uneasy laughs.

Jonah Hill should be shot. No, I was wrong for saying that. Shooting his is too good for him. He should be stripped nude, tarred, feathered, then each arm and leg tied to a different horse, a pistol fired in the air, and then watch as the startled horses flee from each other, tearing Hill asunder. I'm so sick of this s**t that Whorrywood pulls on the audiences.

John Cena is getting a lot of work lately. Hopefully this gets him a best supporting actor nomination next year.

🇳🇴 Vesper, you are killing this country. I'm trying to lift up the cinematic standards in Whorrywood, and you're willingly dragging them back down into the gutter. Promise me you'll do the honorable thing and illegally download this piece o'crap when it comes out. Promise me?!?

GS, you misunderstand me. I'm under 21. If I wasn't going to download it I'd just scab free tickets off someone. :)

The title is clearly just there as an insurance policy to save a bit of cash on marketing and to get enough butts in the seat to ensure the budget is recouped. It's stupid and cynical but not really worth getting up in arms about, IMO.

But I'm under 21. I also have no idea what the hell 21 Jump Street was ;)

That scares me even more. Not that I'm necessarily a huge fan of 21 Jump Street, but that I'm sickened to death of the way Whorrywood takes beloved television shows and bastardizes them on the big screen. You're just the type of moviegoer that Whorrywood is looking for: young, impressionable, nubile, not overly familiar with the original television series enough to the point where you would be furious to see what they've done with the movie version.

The original television show starred Holly Robinson, Peter Deluise, Dustin Nguyen, Richard Grieco.....and also Johnny Depp. All were cops who looked young enough to infiltrate high schools as seniors and bust crime rings. I remember it fairly well because 21 Jump Street was one of the first shows on the FOX Network (along with Married With Children and The Tracy Ullman Show). But who am I kidding? You weren't even born then.

God help any studio who attempts to remake The New Adventures of Beans Baxter on the big screen. I will go ballistic!

Just making sure people are paying attention to what I'm writing.

And at my age, anybody younger than me is automatically "nubile".

I didn't think it looks all that horrible, but then again, I have no attachment to the show.

I'd rent it when it comes out on DVD. Doesn't look too bad. There are worse things out there.

Was flipping through the new issue of Entertainment Weekly and one of the principals on the film said that they modeled the movie after films like "48 Hours" and "Beverly Hills Cop". Huh? Why is a movie called 21 JUMP STREET *not* modeled after the show it's spun off from? This movie in no way approximates anything close to what the show was like or about. In fact, the movie basically mocks and makes fun of the show.

It seems to be getting some pretty good reviews so far, so I'm hoping that fans of the show will simply stay away from this turd based on the level of antagonism it seems to be showing towards the source material.

How are you achieving that? That would be great to do, but how can you do that?

Watched the trailer:

1. It looks terrible.
2. Where is Tatum's neck?
