To be fair they're mostly focusing on milestones of the films, hence the 50th anniversary hype. Fleming's birthday is an exception.

To be fair, Fleming visited during filming of Dr. No, From Russia With Love and Goldfinger. There have been plenty of opportunities prior to today for the 007 Twitter feed to acknowledge the author. Also, without Fleming, there are no James Bond movies and no jobs related to James Bond movies, including jobs for people to write Tweets for the 007 official Twitter feed.

Quite right.

Far too often the popular view of Bond is that it is purely something to do with Sean Connery and Daniel Craig. And perhaps, begrudgingly, Roger Moore.

Their roles, and those of others, are but a sparrows tears compared with the great Mr Fleming, and that should never be forgotten, though too often it appears it is.
