Some of his famous eyebrow-waggling should sort that out.

I've always been fascinated by laserdiscs. I only saw one LD player growing up, and that was in my grade school. Is it true that you have flip the disc after an hour?

Yup, and a second disc might be required depending on the length of the film.

There's two formats-CLV and CAV.
CLV has hour long sides, CAV usually 30 minute sides but has more room for full feature controls including exact frames and a slightly superior picture quality.
Most 2 hour or so films have two discs and three sides, the third in CAV.

So basically imagine the early version of DVD, the flipper discs that arrived in 1997/1998 and had the movie split onto two sides. Now picture that but at the size of an LP.

I love too many old formats.

21 March

Magnolia € 4,00. The online price of this store asking € 20,95. The extra's are taken over from disc 2 of the 2 disc SE dvd, but with the BD release documentry only have option for English or Spanish subtitels and trailers/tv spot only Spanish. I think it is the already long screentime (188 minutes) of the movie with 7 subtitel options (Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, Norwegian, Spanish, Swedish) made it impossible for Newline to subtitle another 72 minutes for the long making off with the same subtitels. The Dutch studio A Film Entertaintment made them easy for them selfs and give us the Scandinavia version with a couple of covermistakes on the back cover.

Gladiator Limited 2 Disc Blu-Ray Digibook Edtion € 9,00!

Hickey & Boggs DVD finally arrived from the States. Not sure if it was ever released in the UK.

Haven't seen it for many years, but I recall it having one of the grimmest endings ever filmed. It was written by Walter Hill.

Any mention of Hill makes me think of this (just amusing to me): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZflNwAhq4g#t=4m10s

HICKEY & BOGGS is a film I've heard of only by name, but it looks like the kind of early 70's crime film I'd enjoy.

Other ones in June:

Madagascar 3 (2 disc: BD/DVD)
Bolt (2 disc: 3D/2D)

De Avonturen van Kuifje (Adventures of Tin Tin) Limited Collectors Edition. Number 3637/5000. For a boxset where i have seen prices also above € 90,00 (I pay 1/3 of that price.) it mabey disapointed. Shame the animated movie from 1974 isn't include and in specialy because it is in the earlier set from 2001 but the videofootage on that set is very bad (4/10 from a Belgium website). I wil give the episodes on those disc 6.0/6.5 or 7/10 on the 2 episodes that i already checked.

Intouchables (2011). France movie released in 2012 in The Netherlands and after Skyfall be with 12 million the biggest boxoffice hit in my country before The hobbit whas released. This 4 disc edition include 2 disc dvd, 1 disc bluray, artist soundtrack, poster & some cards, booklet and the novel where this movie is based on.

Salt. Re-released in 2012 Steelbook
Unstoppable (2 disc: BD/DVD)
Castle Season 2
Due Date (UK 2 disc: BD/DVD). But bought local.
The Descendants  (2 disc: BD/DVD)
