Sounds like a thoroughly depraved and quite stupid film. I think I will waste my money on the Pikelet and company in Titans Part 2 instead.

Rather than Hunger Games, maybe better off checking out the Spartacus TV series. The Roman gladiators have no qualms about killing each other and in a twisted sort of way, the barbarism all kind of makes sense within the context of those debauched pagan-times.

Finally saw it. Pretty much 142 minutes of tedium, although it was for the most part watchable, but I didn't like it. It's not an enjoyable film. The characters are mostly dreary, even the lead. Cat is an exemplarly young woman, but even she seems beat down by the depressing vibe of the whole scenario.

I will watch the next one though, just to see where the story goes next. I'll sit through almost anything.

I found the characters hideous - the adults especially. The kids were a dull group too. Movie works as good popcorn fare for teen girls I guess. Cat's a relatable heroine.

I didn't know it was possible to make a film in which Elizabeth Banks was ugly. Hunger Games managed the feat though.

IMO, Hunger Games is teen chick-fare, like Twilight, but without the wolfs, ( I've only seen two Twilights btw and only because I like "wolfs")

I don't have the same concerns H. Jackson had in his spoiler notes though

I think I read that the cinematography is atrocious.

Like we needed another film that relies on shaky shots.

I'm no filmmaker but I would yes describe the cinematography in layman's terms as washed-out looking. The film is largely colourless and what colour there is, is not very bright. This may be by design to help create the right look and atmosphere, for the future-horror totalitarian utopia we find ourselves in.

This movie is dreary. It's a depressing affair. To anyone still considering going, be forewarned, there will be boredom. You will drift off.
