I'd love to see a remake of Escape to Victory. I can see Kenneth Branagh in the Michael Caine role. Use retired footballers, so you avoid the ridiculous wages and insurance costs. Beckham, Ginola, Gullitt, Cantona... The American goalie I can see as The Rock, although 'Imself would cast the bloke who played Face in the A Team film. And the two English officers running the escape committee should be Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry.
How do I make this happen?
Oh, and I'd have Stallone to direct. Or maybe Clint.

I've mentioned TO CATCH A THIEF as a Hitchcock film that could be remade as something pretty worthwhile with the right director, writer, and cast. Clooney would be good for the lead. No idea on the female lead. Perhaps Brian De Palma as the director.

I'd still like to see a new MAN WITH THE X-RAY EYES. And since the 3D craze is still with us, it is even a good call from the exploitation/cash-in point of view (though I'd see the 2d version ... been over 30 years since I have seen anything in 3d in a theater and I don't think I will ever bother again.)
Ideally by Cronenberg, but I realize that is seriously unlikely.

JURASSIC PARK - I'd like to see this done as an R-rated sci-fi thriller.
CUJO - The original was like a poor man's De Palma film.
THE WAR OF THE WORLDS - I'd like to see this done as a period piece. The adaptations, so far, have been quite underwhelming.

Don't think it is needed to make a remake of Jurassic Park to get R-rated sci-fi thriller. On my wishlist for Jurassic Park 4 (Jurassic Park: Rise of the Dinosaurs) stay the writers, the production designer & cinematopgrapher of The Invasion (Starring Daniel Craig).
A older idea, like to see the writer of The Invasion with Daniel Craig working at a Jurassic Park movie. The original JP writer/novel writer past a way and Lessem writer of a novel Rise of the Dinosaurs be adviser of the first Jurassic Park movie. The store scene from The Invasion is one of my favorite scene's from The Invasion and both movies going about experiments. Think about the Dinosaur Kitchen scene. Earlier Spielberg editor and Janusz Kaminski the directer of photopgraphy of the second movie. Always have more problems with The Lost world then the first movie, but time flys and iam curious in specialy Janusz Kaminski can do it better this time after all those years and the movie be not longer then 110 minutes. Asking Spielberg back is only because he directed the first 2 and to get audince to the movie. After Indy 5 (2013) i think it should Spielberg his next project. 2014, A fift movie should follow in 2017.

It really dates me to say this, but the WotW I've always wanted to see is period ... but its the Jeff Wayne produced rock opera version. I suppose they could get Hopkins to do the Burton role, but I don't know if modern artists could do the songs any better than they were done originally.

Yeah, a period War of the Worlds would be great.
The Harlan Ellison version of I, ROBOT, though it's so different from what they eventually made I dunno if you could call it a remake.

They won't come anywhere near the brilliance of Robert Aldrich's film.

To be honest I would like it if the studios layed off from the remakes for the next few years and focused more on original films. This is simply because there have been too many remakes in recent years and there are few films out there left to remake, also, more importantly, the vast majority of remakes (or "reimaginings") are awful.

Agreed, I am always happy to see interesting concepts used and reused but as Bond has shown remixing and refining familiar elements can still make for a fresh film experience.
