PostSubject: Switch to Mac?   Wed May 23, 2012 1:59 pm

I got a Samsung laptop nearly a month ago and it's crashing just about every day now. Blue screens galore. I'm gonna get an external harddrive tomorrow to back all my stuff up, and then go looking for a new laptop.

I'm thinking of going Mac. Are they really better? Will it make me a communist hipster?

I wouldn't buy a MacBook yet: http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#MacBook_Pro

Supposedly, they'll be upgrading their MacBook line soon.

Macs are great, though. Did you call customer support about your PC?

Macs really are better. The OS takes a bit to get used to but it's worth it.

Well, I'm getting close to 30 days on my PC, so I've gotta return it. I don't know if I want to wait for the new MacBook after I return it, and be stuck using my older laptop that's been having problems.

By all means. Use the refurb if you want a cheaper price. I suggest the macbook pro, the cheaper one. Also if you can, replace the hard drive with a SSD disc. From then on, you will have 0 crash and all your files secure.

I wouldn't let one bad experience with a machine force you to switch to Mac. I've had my current laptop for over a year and it still runs like a dream, and before that I'd owned one for six years before it buggered up. The only real difference between Windows 7 and OSX is aesthetic - the only functional difference I can really think of is that the Windows 7 taskbar serves more useful purposes than the OSX dock anyway.

It's up to you though. Apple produce good hardware, but you pay a very hefty premium for it.

Mr. White Tuxedo's thread here brings me to my thread here:

http://bondandbeyond.forumotion.com/t1558-apple-ipad

I am thinking about getting one and with this city over-flooded with free Wi-Fi (at grocery stores, Whataburgers, Wendy's fast food burgers, McDonald's, Starbucks, the public Library, etc etc) , I don't even have to sign up for internet service.

I think I'm gonna take the plunge. I've got an external hard drive and I'm backing up all my stuff. I think I'm going with a 13-inch screen Mac Book Pro. I'm used to 15-inch screens, but this will save me money and it'll be more portable. I may actually take it coffee shops and such. Though I don't drink coffee.

Well, I returned my Samsung and I'm holding off on a MacBook Pro until the new release. Why not go all out. But I'm on my old Toshiba, which likes to crash. Fucking Apple, release this shit already.

If I try to open iTunes, my Toshiba crashes. WTF am I gonna do for a couple months?

iMao.

I'm leaning toward not waiting. I'm going to investigate what the new shit will be. Higher-res screen? I'm not gonna watching movies on the damn anyway.

For your Toshiba laptop, try finding something that isn't as much of a resources hog that iTunes is. VLC or Winamp might be prudent options depending on how well they perform.
