I agree with every word of that video, btw. THAT is a Star Trek captain.

It's great to see him be as noble as Picard 'offscreen', as it were :) .

I just visited my uncle's place. I hadn't been there since he first moved in, so he's done a lot of work with it. The one that's relevant is the office that he converted into a room that's sort of a mix of TNG and VOY style interior design. Pretty nifty looking. I only took one photo of it, so you get the general idea.

Also, he converted the door for this room, so here's a video he uploaded himself...

Wasn't turned on when I showed up, he keeps it off now because of the cats.

Wish I had taken another photo further to the right, as he actually had that painting of the Enterprise-D seen in Picard's ready room hanging on that wall. Not the actual prop of course. Also had some nice replicas in that room, my favorite probably being the communicator from the pilot.

Currently downloading S2. I'll give them a listen on my next night shift so I have something new to listen to.

I'm downloading S3 right now.  Gave some of S2 a listen.  So happy to have the "Metamorphosis" music. Hell, finally having the whole thing is a dream come true.

And because I'm a moron I turned off my computer while I was downloading and lost it. I hope it doesn't make me wait an hour. Fuck.

I just gave a listen to the opening title for S2. Motherfucker, does that sound good. I didn't expect the quality of this remaster to be as good as this. It's like listening to a brand new track, but it's definitely the original recording. Kind of strange to listen to it without the hiss and pops of those early LP releases.

Yeah, I'm waiting for S3 to download. I can't wait to hear "The Empath", among so much else.

This reminds of how it felt back in 2003 when the expanded Bond soundtracks came out.

Are these from that ultimate complete lalatrek thing?

On a tangentially related matter ... the guy who spent months painting the Enterprise model for TMP has an ebook out about the experience. Can't figure out whether to laugh or cry or buy an e-book reader. http://www.startrek-enterprise.us/Star_Trek_Home.html

Yep, it's the super duper completo release. "The Empath" sounds terrific.

I don't watch the New Voyages/Phase II fan show, but I hope they use actual TOS music. This set must be a god send to them.

I'm currently listening to S1. I always had a fondness towards Steiner's work and listening to the complete set only confirms that he is my favorite of the TOS composers.

I never really paid attention to who wrote what.  I totally forgot that Jerry Fielding wrote the music for "Tribbles".  He wrote scores for gritty 70's flicks, and I just checked and was surprised by just how much TV work he did.

I also like George Duning's work for "Metamorphosis" and "The Empath".  I hadn't realized it was the same composer, but I wasn't surprised to learn.

Just found this site: http://www.startreksoundtracks.com/tos/tos-collection.html

Happy as a clam, labelling the episodes.

Example:

Vina's Dance ("The Cage")
Back in Black ("The Negron Complex")

Fielding's SPECTRE OF THE GUN score is so close to THE WILD BUNCH at times it isn't even funny.

Sol Kaplan is the guy for me, just on DOOMSDAY MACHINE alone, though I think he did ENEMYWITHIN also. I really loved the ELAAN OF TROYIUS battle music, sounds very ww2 naval to me. Maybe that was STeiner?
