Roger Moore: Daniel Craig is the Best Bond Actor

Sir Roger Moore says Daniel Craig has “the best acting and the best build” of any actor to play James Bond.

For a generation reared on the James Bond films of the 1970s, Sir Roger Moore remains the finest 007. Sir Roger, however, disagrees. The 84-year-old has hailed Daniel Craig as the best actor ever to play Bond.

Not that I dislike Craig, but... in my opinion there have been better actor than him.

Who, George Lazenby?

Didn't he say the same thing about Brosnan? Maybe not the best build, but definitely the best actor? Maybe he means 'of this generation'. But I can think of two other actors who would do a fantastic job also.

He might have thought so before Craig took the role and blew the Broz away. Heck, even Broz called Craig the best actor shortly after CR came out.

Heh - I read once that Brosnan didn't watch CR until it had long been released.

Still, Connery is the best. 8)

Roger has always been nothing but gracious, humble, and self-deprecating. Roger's physique was never quite as rock-hard as Craig's, but Roger had style and wit, and that goes a lot further than looks. Roger will never say it, so I'll say it for him: Roger Moore was, is, and always will be the best Bond actor. No one will ever be as good as Roger Moore.

Do we really expect him to say anything else? It's not like Roger will say "Oh God no, I despise that blonde haired sourpuss. He hasn't an ounce of wit or charm in him." All the former Bonds save Lazenby are on board with promoting the brand they carried in the past and part of that is promoting the current Bond.

Excellent point. But I would further add that Roger has always been Bond's best ambassador. Isn't Roger the only Bond actor that has done sit down interviews and commentaries for the SE dvds and the Blu-Rays? I may be wrong, but I don't recall any of the other actors doing anywhere near the promotion for the Bond brand after they had left the role than Moore has. Brosnan can be excused because there hasn't been much of an opportunity between DAD and now to promote Bond, but maybe he'll get his chance for the 50th anniversary celebrations. Dalton was always reticent about doing any publicity even when he was Bond, so I don't know what his contributions will be if any. Sean acted like 007 was an albatross around his neck. Only Moore really seemed to appreciate the gift he'd been given.

It happened in our prime universe, right as reality ran off the rails and we got sidelined into this dead-end altiverse with Craig (also with JJAbrams' lensflaremania/desecration of Trek that makes Berman seem only horrible by comparison.)

And as far as the PB/CR thing .... what I read was that he tried to see the movie (on a plane?) but only watched 20min or so. Certainly not that he had seen the whole thing and liked it (though I guess that could have happened a couple years later ... it took me till QoS to get through all of CR in the span of one day, with several breaks for life and sleeping in between.)

I've always wanted to see all five at a round table going on about the ups and downs of playing Bond and then living with that over the years. And actually be honest, which might appeal to ol' Danny Dravot himself.
