| I had a discussion about the memorial garden in Central Park this week (Strawberry Fields - named after the Beatles song "Strawberry Fields Forever" because John Lennon was shot close-by) and I couldn't keep my mouth shut and mentioned the Bond girl. Then I was hoping I wouldn't be asked why you would name a Bond girl "Strawberry Fields". I mean, that is a very unconventional name, even for a Bond girl.
Does anyone know? Is it just a pun on the Beatles song? |

| My guess is that it's a combination of wanting to have a "Flemingesque" name for a new Bond girl, as well as harken back to the 60s. There was a conscious effort to make QOS feel like a 60s Bond film through style and editing, while Arterton is quoted on having her hair styled as a combination of Pussy Galore (hair cut) and Tracy Bond (colour) - her two favourite Bond girls from the 60s. |

| I literally thought it was a "collars and cuffs" reference to her red hair. This is James Bond after all. |

I think that is what FieldsMan meant by "Fleminesque". I mean, in the American Dad Bond parody ("Tearjerker" & "For Black Eyes Only") Francine is named "Sexpun". - FieldsMan wrote:

I hadn't known that, thanks. I still think they also wanted the reference to the Beatles - only a few things a more British than the Beatles. |

| I think it goes along with the stupid Elvis name. I visibly winced at both of them in the theater. To me it just feels like general laziness and an inability to come up with the Flemingesque names.
What a terrible waste...of a great actress in such a throwaway bit part with a silly name. Wonder why they didn't go ahead and make her middle name earmuffs? |
