Definitely agreed.

What was the budget for that? I have no idea what such a sequence costs.

Wonder why they took it down? This could have gone viral, to the movie's credit.... :suspect:

The one on Apple was larger than Vimeo

I get what Sharky was saying back on page 1 about it maybe being a little 'busy', but overall I like it a lot. The bit with Bond shooting the mirrors put me in mind of this LALD publicity shot -

Ascetically appeasing yet will have to agree with Sharky that at moments it's a little much. The rorschach blot was delightful until they threw the Skyfall mansion into it. If it was a more architecturally appealing building I don't think I would have minded it being everywhere. I get that it's the title of the film, but for a reiterated image in the title sequence it was an interruption among the tombs, knives, and dragons.

Loved the imagery. The dragons/skulls/tombstones and the Asian girl pointing the gun were the standouts for me. Loved it! I will agree with Vesper though and say that the camera moving forward was a bit too much, but I'll see how I feel on a second viewing.

I wasn't too fussed on it, to be honest. I felt there was too much going on, and no real consistency to it. Kleinmann's titles have always been rooted in one of the underlying themes or plot devices - GOLDENEYE had the fall of the Soviet Union; TOMORROW NEVER DIES was technology and digital information; THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH was oil; DIE ANOTHER DAY was Bond's imprisonment and torture in North Korea; and CASINO ROAYLE was the playing cards and money. But there was a hell of a lot going on in SKYFALL's title sequence, and some of it was quite abstract.

I did like the daggers falling into the graveyard to become the headstones, and the aforementioned Asian girl with a gun. Bond shooting at his shadows until one became Silva's silhouette was quite good, as was the maze of mirrors. If they'd stuck to that, I think it would have been just fine. But the dragons and the blood and the ink blots were all just a little too much. I wasn't impressed by the house, either; it wasn't really connected to the story or its themes, and certainly had nothing to do with anything in the pre-title sequence, so unless the audience had been following production and knew of the finale, it was widlly out of context.

And Craig's acting in the title sequence wasn't great.

Yeah, he looked a little clumsy.

But upon second viewing, the moving forward still didn't sit right with me. There's a lot to like in it though, but I think a little more focus on only a couple designs would have been better.

Kleinman's ranking:

Goldeneye
The World Is Not Enough
Die Another Day
Casino Royale
Tomorrow Never Dies
Skyfall

I also felt that the visuals didn't quite match the music at times. One of my favourite moments in Kleinmann's titles comes early in GOLDENEYE when the bullet explodes out of the gun barrel in time to the "dah-NAH!" in the music. I felt that was lacking a little here.

Overdid it with the tombstones and skulls n' shizz. It ain't a B-grade horror movie. The fire-breathing Chinese dragons looked silly to me.

After a second viewing I agree with the Ozzies. For all the reasons noted above, these titles just didn't work for me. They were the weakest element of the film, and given the brilliance of Kleinman's work in CR, that surprises me.

But does a title sequence require acting? It's mostly posing and looking slick while the credits roll....
