Have to agree here, Smith still had much to offer I think whereas Tennant was squeezed dry half way through season 3. While I prefer this regeneration story to 10's errr.... 11's errr.... the preceding one.... it was still a massive come down after the coherent triumph that was 'Day of the Doctor'. A shame because although I continue to have serious issues with new-who Smith always impresses and seemed a bit lost in the clutter here. |

| Moffat has confirmed that the show has officially been commissioned for a ninth series which will air with no interruptions. In other news, filming started on Series 8 a few days ago. First pic of Capaldi on set (still in Matt Smith costume): I suspect we will be seeing a picture of Capaldi's official outfit within the next week or so. As soon as they start filming out in public we'll be getting our first look at it. |

| 'And if you look over there, Clara, you will see a horde of shallow fangirls stampeding away in the opposite direction because I'm not 'hot' anymore. They'll REALLY not be missed. Now, my dear ... all of space and time. Where shall we go, hmmm?'. |

| Capaldi's official Doctor costume - Definite touch of Pertwee's get-up with the red-lined jacket. |

Definite touch of Pertwee's get-up with the red-lined jacket. Where do they get all these nice single breasted frock coats....anyways good look for him, albeit I actually think he wears Matt Smiths outfit better than his predecessor. |

| Definitely gives off a Pertwee vibe, but I'm liking it. Definitely suits him well. After watching The Thick of It over the past two weeks, I'm pretty damn excited to see Capaldi in action. Here's a picture of him filming on location in his new outfit: |

| Tardis interior looks the same as the one Smith left in/on, but exterior looks to be a lighter blue. |

| Like the Doctor, I'm regenerating this thread after 7 long months of hiatus. I'm still not big on Capaldi just yet. Smart of BBC to have the previous Doctor phone Clara and lobby her not to give up on him...he was clearly talking to the (female) fans too Matt Smith's Doctor was humorous from the go...this one is going to take some getting used to. Why is he so disoriented and....cold? Next episode features the Daleks...I'd watch that even if Idris Elba was the Doctor... |

| Inside The Dalek = Honey I Shrunk The Doctor... 7/10
I'm wondering why the daleks were so slow to exterminate after they stormed the ship...they were practically waiting to be shot at, especially when Rusty turned on them.
PS I'm liking Capaldi's 'colder' Doctor... |

| I enjoyed the second episode. The first one was pretty weak. No really strong narrative. Very disjointed. No real strong climax/resolution to it. It felt very, very blah. Not enough plot to fit the long running time. I enjoy even the weak Who episodes. And even some of the dreadful ones. But this one had me snoozing on the couch. The biggest travesty of the first episode was including Matt Smith. Matt's time is over. It's really a slap in the face to Capaldi to have him in there. Sure, I understand he just regenerated and there will be references to the previous incarnation. But a cameo like that? Unnecessary. And the way it was written they might as well just had Matt look at the camera and say "Seriously, this guy won't be that bad, you should keep watching. No, really, please, keep watching!" Not a very bright idea in my book. Especially at the very end of the episode once people are starting to get to familiar with the new guy, they throw Matt in there again. Completely unnecessary. Best way to sum up Episode 1: - Quote :
- So to sum up: we spent over an hour on a half-baked plot with no proper climax or resolution, and the only main character who had any proper emotional journey was dreary Clara. And, worse, the Matt Smith cameo laid bare the single, central fact that made it all so dull: Matt Smith was still the hero of this Doctor Who. But now, he was a hero who could only phone in once in a while.
‘You can’t see me, can you?’ said Peter Capaldi’s Doctor to Clara at the end. ‘You look at me and you can’t see me. Have you any idea what that’s like?’
Well. After this strangely recessive, unheroic, dull season opener, Clara wasn’t the only one who couldn’t see the Doctor. The audience at home were still waiting for their hero too. Between Matt Smith in Episode 1 and the Daleks appearing so early in Episode 2, I get the feeling the BBC are worried that an older Doctor might not go over well. I think they are just playing it safe by having Matt in the first episode and the Daleks in the 2nd to keep viewers on for a bit and maybe give him a chance. The Daleks typically appear mid-season or in the finale on new Who. Either way, Capaldi is doing a damn fine job. I love his portrayal. I'm quickly taking to him. He did pretty well in Episode 1 despite the script giving him very, very little to do. Episode 2 was solid and he did much better. Looking forward to the next episode, even though it looks to be one of those "light adventure" ones we typically get around episode 3 or 4. Let's just hope Matt Smith doesn't pop up again. |

| I like Capaldi, but I'm not enjoying the new series. I was watching some of the Smith era ones earlier this week - Vampires in Venice and the like - and no matter how many companions or sub-characters there are, the Doctor is always centre stage. You can't ignore Smith if you tried. He's larger than life. Now, Capaldi isn't the same energetic performance, but he has quiet menace, which I quite like. But what he's not getting is the screen time. It's turned into the Clara show. So she's got the hots for the new teacher? Who cares? I want to know why it took the Doctor three weeks to get her coffee.
Less companion; more Doctor.
And I don't like the new titles. They look like something Disney would create.
I don't like the new theme tune either. It's lacking any eeriness or menace. This one could scare the skin off a rice pudding. |

Technically it didn't, it could have only been a few moments while the Doctor was in the tardis on the errand...sort of like Amy Pond waiting for the Doctor to return in her Episode 1...she became an adult in that time whereas it was moments for him. |

| Robot of Sherwood was the type of standalone borefest I could do without. Clara looked like she was in cosplay for the entire episode I know there's a cybermen episode lurking around somewhere in the coming weeks, and I'm also hoping to see the Weeping Angels again. |

| Very much enjoying Capaldi's take on the timeless Time Lord ... the concerted efforts to distance him from Eleven (not to take anything away from Smith, of course) such as 'sacrificing' the soldier in Into The Dalek and asking Robin Hood does laughing at everything gets him punched in the face a lot are to be welcomed, as is the sonic returning to being an occasionally useful tool instead of The Solution To Nearly Bloody Everything it had become of late. |

| Orson Pink ... Oswald is Clara's surname. I'm sure all will be revealed (or maybe not ... he's a tricksy swine, that Moffat) as this season winds on its merry way.
Listen was clever, genuinely creepy (hairs on the back of my neck were prickling at times) and touching. |

| Thought it was just OK. Not dreadful or anything, just that the 4 preceding eps were better. |

| Have to say - loving Capaldi's season for besides Hide ... the scary parts, and Clara talking to mini!Pink were excellent but visiting the Doctor's timeline, yeah no terrible. That was a disappointment. And I enjoyed the team-aspect of Time Heist - in fact everything about Time Heist was solid, even if I thought Clara was unnecessary to the episode. |
