I always loved the main title. So very unusual. (First 40 seconds of this).
Although, for whatever reason, "Everybody Gets to Go to the Moon" is the piece of music I most commonly associate with the film.

It'll no doubt go unappreciated on here, but I found this track from HP8 to be an absolute beauty:

As does a lot of music - hence why I never listen to soundtracks without seeing the film first.
Take the 007 theme, for instance. Without the memory of how that gloriously accompanies action, it would sound almost hilariously loopy.

funnily enough I did hear it, the Bond theme, described as cheesy on the radio yesterday.

Even so, somebody thought the Bond theme was cheesy. Somebody from the Guardian I think. Bounders.

The Grauniad and its readers have what can be described as an anemic taste in music.
This is cheesy tho'.

got me mits on the Bridge at Remagen by Elmer Bernstein
if anything it has a good opening (the film) and the main theme is...I want to say bold but I like Bernstein even if my listenings have been confined to the Seven, Great Escape and yes, Ghostbusters.

Love this track. Fills me with nostalgia.
I've got to say, a Sharky-scored Bond film might sound something like that....

You could make a soundboard out of these.

always decent to see an orchestra actually doing the music. I fear my Battle of Britain CD has started to crumble.
these series of videos contain within their number a very fine rendition of the Genevieve theme and selected music.

and this, the transition from the main theme/prologue to the Motorcade. How the theme seems to whisper just before hand but also as always how the theme sounds so dramatic during the motorcade sequence.

One of Williams's best concert suites that. Wish he performed it more often. That clip must have been from the early 90s, judging from Williams's hair and the video quality.
"Arlington" (approx 08:38 to the end) is one of the most powerful pieces I've ever heard.

Agreed on Arlington. It tugs and pulls you along in all directions. Well, maybe it's just me. :) When I listen to JFK tracks I tend to be thinking of the man, his actions and things like that. I have a copy of a track which is Arlington eventually giving way into JFK Theme (Reprise), it's quite a contrast really.

The JFK score is comfortably among Williams' best. I'm disappointed that it doesn't get carted about more often.
I prefer Nixon as a film, but the JFK score is the best of his work with Stone.

I've not seen Nixon but the theme at least is quite something. Think I read that Williams did the music and let Stone apply it as he saw fit or something like that. I read it initially off Wikipedia so there you go :)

come to think of it the bit around the 3.55/3.58 mark sounds faintly like the Trade Federation music in the prequels (i.e Clone Army Revealed). Still, I like this track.

I generally identify NIXON as the first true score of Williams's later STAR WARS prequel/LOST WORLD/A.I. sound The bit you're pointing out has a strong John Adams influence, which you can also hear a lot in Duel of the Fates and Battle of the Heroes.
The big difference in style came after Williams had a hiatus in the mid 90s. His daughter came out as lesbian, which tested his faith a great deal. IIRC, the first "new" score of his SLEEPERS, which has got a very modern, electronic sound. Deep explosions, pulses, and various other synth techniques he employed up till MUNICH.
