Bond and Beyond is now on Facebook

I've been thinking about setting up a quality Bond and Beyond page on Facebook to increase people's awareness of the forums here. I'm ok with Facebook, but hardly an expert. While we obviously don't want to become a Facebook commodity, it might be a good idea to have a page set up on Facebook to direct people to our forums. It would also allow people who no longer like the forum format to still put their business our way via means such as Facebook mobile with real ease.

I can see a lot of people typing words like "Bond" and "Skyfall" into Facebook over the coming months, so maybe this is our time to set up an outlet there?

Any opinions?

And if anybody would like to set up a page for us on Facebook, could you please PM me or post your ideas here beforehand?

I ditched my FB page a couple of months ago, but I'm all in favor of BaB having one. It's a good idea.

It should almost certainly bring a little bit more traffic our way so why the hell not :)

First off, we'd be better going for a page, not a group that people have to join. People are more likely to click "like" than fuss over whether or not to commit to something.

A link to these forums should be placed in a prominent place on the page, with sufficient encouragement for people to come here.

For the banner or profile pics, just use artwork identifiable with the forums, such as the current banner or any of the iconic ones (the six Bonds firing pic), this artwork is in the suggestions thread. Or even an image from the Skyfall poster.

Use the established blue/black "Bond And Beyond" title lettering if possible.

Put the page's title in capital letters. If possible, try to work the words "Skyfall" and/or "James Bond" into the title or subtitle, for the sake of searches.

That's all I can think of for now, other than for people to spread the word and get hammering the "like" button once it's launched.

Feel free to start the page up if you like, Control. It would be much appreciated.

If anyone else has any ideas regarding content/design, etc, please feel free to add suggestions here.

The banner should probably be a picture of Craig from SKYFALL as it would be very current.

Profile pic should be a squared-off version of the banner poster IMO, because we'd have a double-whammy searchwise in the iconography of the Bond gunbarrel coupled with us appearing bang up to date with it being part of the poster from the upcoming film. Another FB page called Bond and Beyond stood out to me before ours did when I performed a search, because they'd used an instantly recognisable Bond poster profile pic.

I wish Page would explain why he throws his Mi6 logo onto EON/MGM-owned images.

And images random people take with their phones and upload to their Instagram.

There's nothing really to "beat" when half your members are 14-year-olds taking breaks between rounds of Call of Duty to go on about how the next Bond movie is the most important thing in their lives.

Christ, the difference is that we still have a forum that functions like an acual forum, the facebook page is merely an advertisement of our board, not the board itself. :roll: I've let go of MI6 altogether, no grudges, but I see Page is still holding one for us... No idea what's going on with him these days.

And it's a James Bond forum that restricts you from posting images of James Bond because of a past lawsuit. They're the "#1 place for James Bond", although they're completely shunned by the company that produces the Bond films.

I just hid the comment from the B&B page. He's probably PMing CASINOROYALE for advice on further "insults".

At this point I feel like I rather be at peace with MI6 and Page. I left because I was not happy with format. I rather view this place as just another Bond forum than an alternative to MI6. I'd like to put any negativity between this site and MI6 in the waste bin, but he'll have to go along with that otherwise he'll look absurd. So I'm gonna login to nuMI6 for the first time since its inception, just to say hi. There are few good people there I like, among those 14 year old COD crazed fans.
