This is pretty funny once you start reading the coverage the guy gives about each viewing.

Bond stops off at his rarely-seen flat to pack for his trip to the Carribean.

“There’ll be a woman in the there.”

(Sighs).

“What a slag!”

“She’s got a weird eye thing going on… Why is she slopping over him already? She doesn’t bloody know him!”

Bond lands in Jamaica and quickly attracts the attention of a female photographer.

“She’ll be the next shag-fest… I bet he shags about ten women in this film.”

I feel Mel has missed an important plot point here, so I explain that Bond has ascertained that no car has been sent to pick him up, but he’s getting in anyway. “What do you think about that?” I ask.

“It’s because he’s a cocky bastard,” she replies.

As Bond settles himself into the hotel room, Mel notes, “His pants are really high up.”

“It gives him a very long bum.”

It's quite cute. The bride-to-be seems to hate Seanery but like Daniel Craig.

Am now reflecting on what a simple pleasure watching movies at home ALONE is, can't think why laugh.

This is brilliant stuff.  It has me in stitches. I'm practically reading the entire thing aloud to Daniel.

Operation Grand Slam wrote:
I ask why she thinks Pussy Galore is a lesbian. Although it’s made explicit in the novel, it’s not much so much in the movie. As Winder says in The Man Who Saved Britain, ’Pussy Galore’s Sapphism is tiptoed around in the film of Goldfinger and effectively only available  for viewers who are happy with a very stifled set of code words.’

“Because she said, ‘I’m immune,’ before. And… I just know. You must have told me.”

I think I must have told Mel at some point about the events in Ian Fleming’s Goldfinger novel. After Bond has seduced her, he says he thought she only liked women. Pussy replies, “I never met a man before.”

“That’s just ridiculous. The only strong woman we’ve seen and Bond can just charm her so much that she changes her sexuality?! It’s like, ‘All right, Love, you’re a lesbian. I’ll sort that out.’”

“He can’t even say ‘pussy’ right. The one bloody word you would think he would know… ‘Pooshy.’”

I'm sad to get to the end as they've not watched another one yet. Thunderball in October.

What a dull humourless bitch he's found. My girl is a hardcore women's rights activist and she LOVES James Bond, specifically Sean Connery. So this girl just comes off unreasonably close minded and devoid of fun.

I had to read that one out to Daniel.

Fairbairn, I know what you are saying. But I don't think she's humourless if the above narrative it true.

She sounds relatively naive though. Maybe sheltered. And it's clear she comes into this with some baggage. Nonetheless... his transcripts and commentary is delightful.  Hopefully this experience will open her up a bit.

Thunderball has been watched.

http://operationgrandslam.wordpress.com/2013/10/02/thunderball/

The wife-to-be says:

“I feel sorry for Q. He’s so nice, he’s got his pineapple shirt on, he’s loving it, showing off his gadgets and James Bond has just got to be too cool for school.”

Oh dear... a Q fan already.

Reminds me of my sister's descriptions of watching the films seriously for the first time.

Not that I judge people, but this would be my one necessity. If there is no love for Bond, then it's instant goodbye, as this organization does not tolerate failure.

My gf loves Bond but it's been a long while since she's seen some of them. She's a big OHMSS fan, and she likes Connery but hates YOLT and DAF. (YOLT being too OTT for her tastes and DAF in her words "doesn't feel like a Bond movie").

I think I hate this guy's fianceé. She doesn't even give the movies a chance.

And I could never marry someone who dislikes OHMSS.
