Who do you want for Bond 24's theme song?

I wouldn't mind being "high by the beach" with Lana.

Not to mention having sex with her.

10 weeks till the premiere (wow, can it really be that close?) and still no word on the song. This better be the mother of all theme/title songs, or the excruciating wait for an announcement will have been worthless.

I like you guys, so I'm going to give you an inside scoop.

Ironically that was going to be Madonna's pitch for the title.......it also ties nicely with the accompanying video she planned.

The cod-Joy Division middle eight at 1:56 is one of my favourite musical moments from the last few years. Electronics at their most bewitching.

For some reason, Editors didn't even put Life As A Ghost on the album. Shome mishtake surely...

Yeah, plus Staccato Heaven (without the sample), an Eventide Harmoniser and Oberheim Xpander. I should add that Tom Smith claims it's a Juno 106, ARP Odyssey, MicroKorg and Minimoog. It ain't, but live you can see he used a Korg and Akai MPC in the early tours. (Not sure what the Minimoog's doing. Nothing on this track that I can see.)

The only way to use the D50 today is to roll off the 8-bit samples and use it as a semi-organic pad machine. Add a 12-bit sampler and you have instant industrial soundtracks for less than £500. For me, it's the only one of the late-80s digisynths that's still desirable, partly because its hybrid circuitry is so idiosyncratic it can't be accurately sampled or recreated by any other machine. Incidentally, I don't recall the D50 being used in any Bond soundtrack; its dominant period was when Eon was in a legal war and no Bond films were being made. The D50 is all over Twin Peaks though.

The artist for the title song will be announced on September 8th.

This is my wild guess: Ellie Goulding and Radiohead are BOTH announced, but they're doing different songs. Goulding will do her title song, while Radiohead compose their own instrumental theme that's used throughout the film, reminiscent of On Her Majesty's Secret Service having an instrumental theme and Louis Armstrong doing "We Have All the Time in the World". Or, they go the same route as The Living Daylights that had multiple songs.

Never heard of Decca Records, but I've heard of some of the acts on the list. Gives me hope ONE REPUBLIC could somehow be an "out of the box" surprise, but at this point am resigned to it being Ellie Goulding.

And if you're dead, are you really still a signed act anymore? Shouldn't Amy Winehouse be off the list by now?

Decca was the Stones' label for many years so basically you're saying you know shit about music. Decca's Ring cycle is considered one of the greatest recordings ever made and the company also popularised stereo and the long-player. In Britain, Decca still has a similar brand recognition as EMI or Parlophone, at least among people of your generation and older. As well-known on this side of the pond as Atlantic or Capitol in the States.

As an aside, dying can be a great career move. See some guys you've never heard of such as Kurt Cobain, John Lennon and Elvis Presley. Oh, and Amy Winehouse.

That said, even SPECTRE's title was leaked a few days before its official reveal, thus I wouldn't call them "adept".
