| I read on CNN that the GBP sank on Monday due to the issue.
Doesn't sound good at all for England.

| I'm relocating to the Falklands.
Find Alex Salmond utterly insufferable. Picture of him with the Queen on the Beeb website, needless to say the Queen doesn't look chuffed. Hopefully the Union will survive but it's gloomy.
Send a gunboat, Dave. |

| They shouldn't be allowed to keep the pound if it's a 'Yes' win ... if the democratic 'will of the people' is for independence, so be it. But no 'cherry-picking' the bits of Union they still fancy ... if you've made your bed, bloody well lie in it. |

| Will Sean Connery keep to his word and return to an independent Scotland?
Methinks not. |

| Evenin', Ambler :) . Rumour reached me that my whereabouts had been asked after, so I decided to pop in.
The Welsh will be next until someone reminds them that you can't run an economy off of leeks, male voice choirs and Tom Jones. |

| The UK, as we know it, was unlikely to survive this century anyway. May as well get the dismembering out of the way early. |

| [indignant]Let them go...bye bye...and take £100-130 billion pounds of the UK's national debt which is Scotland's inherited share.[/indignant]
Of course, they might need joint control of the pound for that...
Sorry Ambler, but I don't think the union will continue indefinitely.

| I'm not sure why other members of the union have had no say about whether it stays together or not. |

| This reminds me of the Quebec seperatist referendum from a few years back. Same sort of issues - would they get to keep the currency? being a big one. And similar to this, it was a vote for Quebecois only - if they'd let the rest of the country vote, the West would've let the seperatists win most likely! |

| On another note - if Scotland declares independance, will they have to kick James Bond out of MI6? |

| Good question.
Will all British citizens whose permanent residence is in Scotland automatically become citizens of the Scotch Republic? What about those born in Scotland whose permanent residence is presently in another part of the UK or the wider world? |

| I believe Craig's Bond was born in West Germany, but raised in Glencoe.
You know. The usual... |

| The citizenship issue I believe has been settled at permanent residents of Scotland get Scottish citizenship, and those of Scottish birth get Scottish citizenship.
Also MI6 and MI5 and so on have stated Scotland would be on its own for security and intelligence and have to develop it's own resources.
Meanwhile, if Bond is of West German birth, to a Swiss mother and a Scots father, with the Scots father's family being Scottish landowners, but Bond himself residing in Chelsea and working for British Intelligence -- which side of the line does he stay on?
Does anybody know if non-British citizens are allowed to serve in British government posts? I doubt it... |

| Piers Morgan has offered to move back to the US if the 'No' vote is triumphant ... too tempting an offer for the Scottish electorate to ignore?
I'd quite like the smug twat to move back regardless of the outcome. |

I'd quite like the smug twat to move back regardless of the outcome. Clarkson could be relied upon to stump up the air fare. -- Heard on the Vine programme today some people who are in the No camp feel intimidated by the Salmond/SNP brigade for putting up literature/posters. Then again someone at work after I said about how long the Union had been and how England and Scotland have been enemies in the past expressed surprise. "I thought you guys liked each other forever." But then you have to explain who William Wallace is and English/Scottish history...after the while you either despair or bore yourself. |

| Thank you. Michael Shannon's one of my favourite working actors. In an age of smug, exfoliating little shits like Ryan Gosling, he's one of the few that can bring both pathos and menace. |

Unfortunately he seems to have lost interest in the Van Alden character. I cannot blame him as he is one of the many characters on that show which have been ruined. |

| Exit polls seem to suggest the "No" vote is comfortably triumphant.

| 16 year-old's can vote in Scotland? I don't get that. If you barely have pubes, don't yet shave, and don't have a job, a house, or anything of value that wasn't given to you with allowance money, why should you be voting? At 16 you have no say in what goes on in your own house, much less your own country. A sixteen year old should be living at home, not getting involved in politics. Young people are going to destroy the world. |
