| My shopping bill for March so far is almost $4000 Now I'm not exactly a shopaholic...it's just that as a collector, this place is a repository of good deals sometimes, and a great way to get something at a steal of a price and then resell it for a cool profit. I've made some good money with comic books, dvds, blu-rays and stamp collections. I have to avoid clothes though, unfortunately, as local taxes on those (via customs) can get a little high. Love to buy there, but won't sell there... |

| I spend nowhere near the amounts you do, DB (though I'm probably on much less income), but yes, I'm an internet DVD shopping addict. Ebay, amazon, ioffer, stojo, scootermovies and more.... theres not many films I cant track down somewhere on the internet. |

So where do you sell? I don’t know which eBay you use, Dog, but in the UK the costs of selling on eBay are fairly high. Besides the value of the seller’s time they are: 1. The eBay fees for the item listing; photographs; ‘buy it now’ or reserve. (Varies according to asking/starting price of item.) 2. eBay’s 10% cut of the selling price including the postage & packing 3. PayPal’s 5% handling fee. (PayPal is the financial services arm of eBay and is very convenient. The drawback is that PayPal sets its own foreign exchange rates and the seller must either rely on the buyer's honesty or use tracked shipping, the cots of which is passed on to buyer. It can be expensive and off-putting.) The key to making money on eBay seems to be to factor in around 20% to cover eBay’s cut and to sell high value, low weight items; comics are ideal in the latter respect. A friend of mine deals in old wristwatches (couldn't write that word on MI6!), which is another area that seems ideally suited to eBay selling.

| I go through phases. At the moment, I'm not addicted, but I do like to pop in. When I do, that's when I start to spend large amounts of money (something I shouldn't do when I want to save and all I'm on is a Target wage). I got all of my James Bond figures from there, along with replica cars, photographs, my plates, novels, DVDs, etc. |

| I probably haven't spent 4K on ebay since I began shopping there about six years ago. I do, however, purchase two or three little odds and ends on ebay each month. It's a pretty fascinating place--the world's garage sale. |

So where do you sell? I don’t know which eBay you use, Dog, but in the UK the costs of selling on eBay are fairly high. I sell directly to collectors and other prospective buyers either in-store or at local conventions. 97% of my buys are from eBay USA, the other 3%, eBay UK. The final UK selling price has to be pretty good to justify the additional airmail costs. 8-10 comics sent by Royal Mail can be around £10.00 but when I get them at below 15% to 20% of guide value it's worth it. Simple strategy...look for excellent deals, sometimes as low as 10% of the prices in specialty stores which stock the same product, then resell to a buyer who knows there's a savings of at least 25%-35% buying from me. It helps if you are a collector yourself and can spot a bargain that someone else is selling way too cheaply. A considerable number of people prefer to buy what they can see in person rather than on-line, so the formula works. The irony is, I don't sell on eBay...I want to maximise a final selling price and not sell it for a bargain. I am convinced that some of the collections I bought were sold by non-collectors...like getting $200 worth of books for $12....which I resold for closer to $75 within 24 hours to a delighted collector. It's also how I get cash to build my own collection...barely have to dip into my pay packet :cherry: |

| Do you know where the best conventions, car boot sales and in-store collectors are in Londinium, Mrs. Sects?
I've got a lot of childhood toys, CD, video games, and so forth that I'm wanting to sell. |

| I only learned how to use Ebay about a year ago.
I don't bid, just buy. I use it when I'm desperate, especially if I can't find what I'm looking for on Amazon. |

| I probably only use e-Bay once a month or so nowadays, though I too went through something of an "addict" phase with it about six years or so ago, probably more due to the fact that I was in mourning at the loss of so many great secondhand record/collectable stores in e-Bay's wake. At the moment, I've got more stuff than I can fit into my house, so I'm more likely to be selling than buying if I go onto e-Bay again anytime soon.

| I've spent way too much on ebay in the past. Vintage rhinestones galore. But I did buy some furniture 6 years ago from there. I've been great friends with the sellers since they moved me into the apartment in which we live now. They were living in the building when I met them to see the furniture and got me the place. (I bought our bedroom set and dining set from them too. ) |

A man I used to know made his fortune from clearing houses in the North of England and shipping the contents to the States. One guy's tat is another guy's luxury it would seem. |

| eBay must be the most unstable retail platform in the world. Locked out again today as were millions of others according to Down detector. I make that at least 12 times this year alone.
Incredibly unprofessional outfit. |

| I prefer Gumtree myself. Smaller scale but more reliable. |

Incredibly unprofessional outfit. Haven't been affected by lockouts on my end (counting my blessings)...especially with two items of interest over the next 24 hours. |

| Criterion needs to do another run of THE THIRD MAN on Blu-Ray.
I've only really bought books on eBay. Fleming novels, actually. You can get a batch of them for quite cheap. Some of the old Signet editions, even the somewhat new Penguin editions. |

| I made some Christmas money, turning about US$850 worth of Ebay merchandise into $1600 retail, with zero overhead. Not bad for one day |
