| Isn't there a 007 quotes thread for that? Either way, I love Blofeld's remark about the Cold War, "the great powers flexing their muscles like so many impotent beach boys". |

| A few from Red River:
"There are only two things more beautiful than a good gun: a Swiss watch or a woman from anywhere. Ever had a good... Swiss watch?"
"There's three times in a man's life when he has a right to yell at the moon: when he marries, when his children come, and... and when he finishes a job he had to be crazy to start."
"You're fast with that gun, Matt. Awful fast. But your heart's soft. Too soft. Might get you hurt some day."

| I don't quite follow the huge surprise at Zellweger's face. Wasn't it obvious she had a lot of plastic surgery even when she was still at the height of her fame? |

| "I been working since I was ten years old, Jessie, cleaning spittoons at a dime a day. It's now thirty years later, and all I can see out the window here is a dirt road going nowhere. The only thing that changes the view is the spotted dog lifting his leg against the wall over there. Saturday nights, I haul out the town drunks. I get their 25-cent dinners and their rotgut liquor heaved up over the front of my one good shirt. I wear three pounds of iron strapped to my leg. That makes me fair game for any punk cowboy who's had one too many. No, Jess, I don't need a wife. I need out."
"You better put down that gun. You got two ways to go, put it down or use it. Even if you tie me, you're gonna be dead."
“I’ve been wedded and bedded and loved and let down.”
"Been a widow since I was 19. My husband was a sweet Missouri boy. One night, they brought him home on a kitchen door. Been shot eight times."
The last two are really made by Diane Cilento's brilliant delivery. |

| Kid: It's not real...
Willie: No shit. Well, it was real, but you see I got sick and all the hair fell out so I have to wear this fuckin' thing.
Kid: How'd you get sick?
Willie: I loved a woman who wasn't clean.
Kid: Mrs. Santa?
Willie: No, it was her sister. |

| Dana Barrett (as Zuul): I want you inside me.
Venkman: [referring to her radical change in personality] It sounds like you've got at least two or three people in there already. |

| one that tickled me at the 30th anniversary showing the other week was:
Archbishop: Lenny, officially, the Church will not take any position on the religious implications of these phenomena. Personally, Lenny, I think it's a sign from God. But don't quote me on that.
Venkman: I think that's a smart move, Mike. |

| I believe that was one of the fake movie trailers that was made for Tarantino and Rodriguez' "Grindhouse" project. Another one of those was the "Machete" trailer, which was then turned into not one but two real movies. I always thought it would have been more fun to see a "Werewolf Women of the S.S." film, but I'm guessing Nazi Exploitation is harder to get financed in the 21st century. |

| I recently re-watched "Tropic Thunder". Apart from thinking that it's still a hilarious, incredibly quotable film, I also realized that it probably wouldn't get made in 2018, just for the fact that some of the jokes are too "out there" by modern day PC standards. I mean, just the use of the word "retard" would get them into trouble. I won't even get started on Robert Downey Jr.'s blackface. Have times really changed that much in just a decade? |

Yes, not withstanding that denizens of 2008 thought they were living in hyper-PC, wussified times. So did people in the 90's. Now 2018ers think Friends is racist. |

To be fair, even at the time, people realized that a vision of NYC so completely devoid of people of color was absurd. But the way they dealt with it was mocking it, not saying it shouldn't exist. |

I think Mann did a better job with this philosophy in "Thief" than in "Heat". It is a bit too spelled out in the latter. |
