This makes me remember something I can't remember getting an answer to...does anyone know which scene in a Bond movie took the most amount of takes?

Probably the scene where Connery strangled Denise Perrier with her bikini.

True. Closest we had to that was Brozza polishing his P99, in a VR simulation (why he starts the exercise polishing his P99, I can't say).

Actually, it seems to have started over at CBn. Someone suggested that it is the "cryptic message from Bond's past" mentioned in the synopsis, the implication being that M found something about Quantum and hid it away for Bond to find at a later date. Because there's no place for something like a symbolic gesture in a Bond film - it has to be debased into a lazy plot device.

"Castle" did something like this last year. After spending six seasons building up a really strong internal mythology based on a political conspiracy behind the murder of Stana Katic's mother, the series resolved the storyline by having her find a tape recording hidden in a porcelain figurine on her desk. There was no suggestion that the recording had existed prior to that episode (in a series built on foreshadowing events), not even from the only character who knew of it when he aided Katic in gathering evidence in the past. The whole story was brilliant, but resolved in the laziest way possible (probably by a writer who didn't know how to tie it off). So I really hope SPECTRE doesn't make the same mistake. The bulldog ornament should be just that - an ornament, a nice little nod to the day-to-day continuity within the films.

I doubt that the bulldog has anything in it. It's just speculation.

The message from Bond's past will almost certainly have do with Hannes Oberhauser. I doubt M has anything to do with that.

Or possibly Mr. White contacting Bond.

It's possible, but strikes me as less likely.

I strongly suspect that the poster image (bullethole in ice) refers to Oberhauser's death, which was the moment when one Ernst Stavro Blofeld shot a man in the back over a cache of Nazi gold and began the criminal enterprise that would eventually become SPECTRE.
