| It's universally accepted that From Russia With Love has the best train sequences in the series, but what about the other Bond films? With the release of SP and the great fight with Hinx on the train - and not to mention Lea's lovely presence - now seems like a good time to discuss.
For me, it would have to be Octopussy. It's integral to the smuggling operation for Octopussy and for Orlov's "accident". The fight on top of the train is a part of the best act of the film, and the changing of carriages sequence is full of intrigue.
Coming in second would be Goldeneye for me.
LALD's feels very tacked on, as does TSWLM. Surely a flight would be much more effective of getting from Egypt to Sardinia during what could be the brink of WWIII... |

| SP gets my vote. Just a brutal fight with one of the best henchmen in years, followed by an amusing cut to Bond and Madeline ripping each others clothes off to have a good shag with all that adrenaline. |

| Tricky, tricky. TSWLM for Bond vs Jaws and Moore pulling off some classic expressions (such as when Jaws bites into the wood panel). Octopussy for stunts (and reading in Moore's book how Martin Grace suffered a horrendous injury filming)...and Spectre for the savageness.
Hell with it, Octopussy. |

| Yeah, part of the excitement for the OP sequence is the fact that Grace suffered the injuries and yet still carried on with the stunt. Incredible stuff!
It's great that SP's train sequence is holding up. The first exchange between Swann and Bond seems a bit clunky, and Craig's 'I don't have to teach you anything' is a bit tacky. I prefer the latter exchange where she's all dolled up. Classier and the writing is much better.
If I were to rank them:
FRWL OP GE SP TSWLM CR LALD |

| Would Bond's pursuit of/fight with Patrice through/on top of a train in Skyfall's pre-credits sequence (and the later pursuit of Silva through the London Underground system, which of course includes Bond tracking him through a tube train and Silva attempting to kill Bond by dropping another one on his head) also merit inclusion? |

| Ah yes. Forgot about that. Seems I can't edit the poll though. |

| Just added Skyfall.
Now that I look at the poll, why is CR included? The title of the thread says "train sequence", which suggests an action set piece, but is the intent simply any scene involving a train? |

| Mostly because I know a lot of people like the two scenes on the train. |

| SKYFALL
The excavator stunt, Deakins's photography, Newman's music and the fight choreography all make for an exciting pre-titles sequence.
Runners-up: OCTOPUSSY - Probably one of the best scenes of Sir Rog's run as Bond. Orlov's death was particularly striking. LIVE AND LET DIE - Because of Jane Seymour in her night gown. |

| I like LALD's, GE's, CR's (it's not an action sequence, but it is well-written) and SF's without any qualms.
Spy's is fun, but marred by the shot where it can unfortunately be spotted that Jaws is bouncing a dummy off of the train carriage roof (no jokes about Sir Rog's acting, now).
Similarly Octopussy's has several shots where the stunt doubles are very apparent.
SPECTRE's is good, but it's hard not to wonder where everyone else on the train disappears to during it. |
