Thought I'd go with something stylish, rather than somber. Seems to properly describe Barry and his music.

He's greatly missed.

He is missed. How the years roll past.

Nice choice on the track, Brown. That and Nocturnal New York from Beyondness of Things I'll associate with the city once, or if I get there

I'll throw in a recent favourite of mine.

My Dad remains a huge JB fan. He became a fan after the Persuaders came out. He still has, some would say weirdly, this clipping of a newspaper with Persuaders Theme in the chart list or something similar from about 1972. I suspect nights of hearing Bond et al through the bedroom floor paid off in the end. The old man got to meet Barry when he came to do signings on Beyondness of Things. Personalised too.

Nice that your dad got to meet Barry. Talk about a real treat.

I didn't get into Barry's music until I was 9 or 10 or so, when I started watching Bond. I assume most of us, as with the Bond films, grew up with Barry's music. Because of that, his passing was both surprising and incredibly discouraging. I read the news on Mi6 in 2011 and had to do a double-take. I believe it was posted pretty late at night.

It's funny, as a kid I got into James Horner via Star Trek and so Dad would rib me about it and stuff, I'd like Barry's stuff but he was Dad's composer. In recent years I've done a bit of a volte vace.

But yes, Bond work and then the broader range. Who amongst us as a kid would know of other works as diverse as Star Crash, Robin and Marian, Raise the Titanic, Body Heat etc?

Part of me likes how something like James Bond or Star Trek (Goldsmith/Horner) or Star Wars can get you interested in more beyond that. I think looking back on it, next to Bond it was Raise the Titanic because of my Titanic obsession as a kid would watch the film to death.
