| I think that description was used in an article that was devoted to the (perceived) paradox of a country so controlled by a strong Christian Right pillar which somehow also had such large porn and sex industries. |

| 'Cunt' is a terrific word. It forms roughly half of my verbal output in any given day.
The Yanks do seem rather uptight about it. Though, of course, tight is what you'd like it to be. |

| I am old fashioned and tend to be a little on the non sweary prudish side but I am not in favour of censorship of dialogue or of how people express themselves....why has this generation lost the concept of 'sticks and stones......' (online games and forums now have all kinds of mechanics to 'preserve our moral fibre' al because people go out of their way to take offence it seems adding massive overhead and lag to the web).
All that said in the realm of bad/questionable language I would confess Cunt is at the most shocking level for me while sod and bloody are pretty much non-event stuff at the other extreme. |

| I'm American and I love the word. Of course...I picked up a dictionary years ago and saw the true definition of the word. I've never understood how that word got twisted and I take every opportunity that I get to educate the ignorant about that word. On a side note, I frequently use Brit slang. I prefer to say holiday instead of vacation, and I actually say cheers a lot more than I say thank you. Not a day goes by where I don't use the words bollocks, wanker, tosser, sod, and git in some way. |

| As far as I know, "cunt" never caught on in the US the way it did on the other side of the Atlantic. From what it sounds like, you limeys use the word the same way we use "asshole" over here. Like "Frank can be an asshole, but he's our kind of asshole". - Salomé wrote:

Not totally. In one of Ambler's favorite Marvel films, a kid tells Robert Downey Jr about how his father left him, and then he replies "which happens, dads leave, no need to be a pussy about it". Just shows you how much that word has become more common. Same with "dick". |

But don't call me it. |

| Not bothered by it at all, user of it myself so it would be hypocritical to be. There are obviously circumstances when it (or any expletive) aren't appropriate, but you should be able to exercise your own judgement.
Genuinely don't understand 'Oh My Goodness!' instead of 'Oh My God!' from non-Christian adults as an expression of surprise. It just sounds so ... timid. |

| When it comes to cursing I rather like the related term 'TWAT', its short and sharp and can be spat out with real venom when you want..... |
