Isn't it, though? The POV on the continent is that Brexit is a fait accompli and the only thing that is still uncertain is the nature of the post-Brexit relationship. |

| I don't really see how a turn-around is still feasible at this point. Both two main British parties are on board with Brexit and I don't see how any politician could survive ignoring the referendum result.
These murmurs are more about the inherent complexity of the divorce itself, methinks. |

Wouldn't you need both major parties to completely change their current stance for that? Also, why would the result of this second referendum be different? It doesn't seem like the EU has gotten much more popular during the Brexit process, to put it mildly. |

| I thought the attempt to open the vote to 16 year olds had failed? Or is there a second attempt on the way? |

I think that was the Scottish independence referendum, though I may be mistaken. Any new move to lower the voting age is likely to depend on whether a second EU referendum is announced.
Of course, it's conceivable that any second referendum might take place after the UK has left the EU. That would be the worst of both worlds as the UK would have to re-join without its rebate, making it the biggest financial contributor to the EU rather than second biggest, as now.
Surely once the UK is properly out there would hardly be a platform for another referendum? |

| So no non-German company has ever won anything? I'm not a hurrah pro-EU type, but if that were the case, the EU would have ceased to exist a long time ago. |

| This rather ignores the fact that Italians have voted for (pseudo-)fascist parties long before the advent of this immigration crisis. Coquetting with fascism is a particularly odd Italian trait that leads to seeing street vendors selling flags depicting both Benito Mussolini and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. |

| Nothing like a bit of gross indecency to warm the cockles of the heart! Down with Il Duce etc. etc. and all other Fascist pigs!
Yes, I'm being ironic. |

| Define like? I think she is a fascinating individual (as an Ossi who has been ruling a unified Germany for ages and as the rare head of state with a real STEM background) but I don't really identify ideologically with her. |

No, wrong legal term on my part. Tsk! Tsk! And, yes, fascism is of course quite indecent. |

but I don't really identify ideologically with her. That's what I meant. But do you think she's the best choice for Germany right now? |
