Any new films you're looking forward to in 2018? So far, only this one on my list, but I'm sure there will be others. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
Director/screenwriter Martin McDonagh's In Bruges is one of my favorite films. Maybe lightning will strike twice.

Darkest Hour Chappaquiddick
and a few others I'm sure, once I look into it. Even Solo but only out of curiosity.

Three Billboards is on the list to see next week. Also looking forward to Darkest Hour (love me some Joe Wright period drama).
Vita and Virginia I'm looking forward to also. I'll check out Sicario 2, but my expectations won't be high. Don't think it really needed a sequel.
Then there is MI:6, too.

My daughter's list is mainly R-Rated. She's a chip of the old Mrs Block but as she's still a pre-teen, I still keep an eye on what she watches. She is unphased by creepy shit on PG-13 films. We just came back from Jumanji.
I am reminded of the days I used to smuggle R-Rated VHS tapes home until my parents gave up

"Three Billboards" is on my list. I will say that Martin McDonagh's career has been an exercise in diminished returns for me. I loved "In Bruges" (as did seemingly almost everyone else) but I thought "Seven Psychopaths" was occasionally amusing (I love Sam Rockwell in anything) yet at times annoyingly self-indulgent. I have read reviews which suggest that "Three Billboards" is another small step back for him. I have also read complaints made by reviewers who grew up in the South that the language does not feel authentic. Though that might be a case of an Irishman writing for Southern American characters?
Other films I am looking forward to, to a certain extent: "Deadpool 2" "Ocean's Eight" (I believe there is a good chance this will be horrendously bad but even if that is the case I'm curious to see what they came up with) "Ant-Man and the Wasp" "The Predator" (Shane Black is one of the few directors who gets me to the movie theater with every single release) "Mary, Queen of Scots" (I am mostly intrigued by the casting in this one with Margot Robbie as Elizabeth and Saoirse Ronan as Mary) "Mary Shelley"

As far as I can tell, Oceans 8 ran intro trouble the moment it cast it. Why mix esteemed talent such as Helena Bonham Carter and Cate Blanchett alongside hacks Sandra Bullock and Anne Hathaway, and non-actors, such as Rhianna?
I don't really have problem with this kind of film, but at least try and do a good job of it.
It amuses me that they want to equalise women in film, but the brother film has at least three more male members in the ensemble main cast.

Wasn't this also the case for the "Ocean's 11" movies? The cast won't be the problem. Based on the trailer, the writing has a good chance of turning this into the "Female Ghostbusters" of the heist movie genre.

Exactly!
Red Sparrows, I am really curious how this one will turn out. I do not have high expectations. Seems like a bad re-telling of FRWL, incorporating the basic idea of KGB officers trained as seductresses, but we will see.

Who were the hacks in the Ocean's 11 films? Been a while since I saw them.

As do I. Not sure about Charlotte Rampling's accent though. Shame, because she's usually so damn good.
