| In the earlier 60s or even 70s movies, you don't see a lot of it, even though a lot of women back then smoked. You see Bond smoking a lot in the early ones, but not the women accept for Thunderball and From Russia with Love being the exception, and the woman from Diamonds are Forever.
But there are Bond girls you seem like smokers, who aren't. For example, I could totally see Tracy or Pussy Galore being smokers in their characters, but the filmmakers seem not to like this idea with a lot of Bond girls. Why is that, do you think? |

| Or perhaps the actresses themselves didn't want to smoke in the film?
I'll be honest, if I'm thinking more about why they aren't smoking than what's going on in the film, they've failed as films for me.
On another level, if I'm thinking about why they're not smoking and not thinking about all the naughty things we could be doing, I've failed as a man. |

| Oh well I read that the actresses smoke in real life, so if that's true, then I figured why not, especially since I see the characters being that type of character. |

| To me that's why GOLDENEYE having Xenia smoking at the casino really stands out in a good way. You rarely saw a woman do that in a Bond film, but there she is, acting as if she's James Bond, puffing away at the table. The next time we get an actress smoking is in SKYFALL with Severine, which works because by that point we don't exactly know what her real motives are and could be a great danger to Bond.
Interestingly, THE RHYTHM SECTION features prominent smoking by Blake Lively. I guess that's what automatically gave it an R rating. |

| Xenia is also smoking a cigar with flair which gives her a stronger edge, a certain playfulness and of course there's the phallic imagery as well which indicates her appetite for strong men etc. |
