Loki will return as side villain (ala Lex Luthor in SUPERMAN II) and it looks like Mads might get to play the main villain.

Though "The Avengers" continues to dominate the global box office, Marvel is not slowing down on preparations for its future endeavors, as Mads Mikkelsen is in talks to star as one of the villains in Disney and Marvel's "Thor 2."

It is unknown at this time exactly what part he will play, but Tom Hiddleston will still have a big part as antagonist Loki. Marvel declined to comment on the casting.

Most of the cast from the original, including star Chris Hemsworth, are returning, with Alan Taylor ("Game of Thrones") helming. Don Payne, who co-wrote "Thor," penned the original draft with Robert Rodat doing the most recent polish.

Marvel has skedded "Thor 2" for Nov. 15, 2013, with production expected to start later this summer.

Best known for his role as the villain in "Casino Royale," Mikkelsen's pic "The Hunt" recently bowed at Cannes. He's currently shooting "The Neccessary Death of Charlie Countryman" starring Shia LaBeouf.

Out of THOR 2, IRON MAN 3, and CAPTAIN AMERICA 2: AVENGER SEQUEL 3, I'm probably looking forward to THOR 2 the most. The THOR series seems to be the least, no it is, the least compromised by Whedon's giant TV movie.

For simplicities sake I think all the Marvel threads could just be merged into the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" thread -- I don't see much point spreading the discussion around.

I might do it, but there's the possibility that past conversations would get messed up by being interspersed with each other. It could get confusing.

I don't like mega-threads. If I want to read about a certain film or franchise, I'd rather refer to that thread alone rather wade through a big merger of a mess. Some franchises are on their own. Spider-Man has nothing to do with Avengers or X-Men.
