There are two docs on the F FOR FAKE discs:

Orson Welles: One-Man Band, an 88-minute documentary from 1995 about Welles’s unfinished projects
Almost True: The Noble Art of Forgery, a 52-minute documentary from 1997 about art forger Elmyr de Hory

Oh, and speaking of Criterion wish-lists, I wish they'd put out a release of THE DEVIL RIDES OUT.

You do? I don't remember that movie being all that great (although I did enjoy the book).

Never read the novel. Love the film, though. One of the stand-out Hammer releases.

That's it's reputation, but I think it's a pile of crap.

I never liked Christopher Lee in Hammer.

I'd love to see a John Frankenheimer box set.

-THE YOUNG SAVAGES
-ALL FALL DOWN
-BIRDMAN OF ALCATRAZ
-SEVEN DAYS IN MAY
-THE TRAIN
-SECONDS
-THE FIXER
-THE GYPSY MOTHS

Maybe take out THE YOUNG SAVAGES, I dunno. I haven't seen those last three, so I can't judge. THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE has been released on good editions (even on Blu) with Frankenheimer commentary, so it's not really necessary.

Yeah, but you think HANDS OF THE RIPPER is splendid, so anything you say about Hammer is naturally a bit suspect.

I've no problem with Christopher Lee, but The Devil Rides Out was badly made and not much remained of Dennis Wheatley's novel.

It's true that the beauty and subtlety of Hands of the Ripper goes over a lot of Hammer heads though it has its supporters. Personally, I think the use of the Whispering Gallery as a metaphor for mental instability is inspired. Christopher Gunning's score is similarly effective. It conveys the duality of Anna's innocence and homicidal urges very movingly.

Criterion's site is having 50% off sale for about 1800 more seconds.

Type in promo code FB75K.

Just got THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER and KISS ME DEADLY on Blu for a combined total of 45 bucks. HUNTER is usually 35 alone.

It's because they have 75,000 fans on Facebook I think. Facebook just justified it's existence. Thank goodness I logged on when I did. Those two titles are ones that I've wanted for a while.

Thank God I caught this post in time, it was running less than 400 seconds by the time I found out! I would have gotten 12 Angry Men blu-ray but the promo doesn't count for pre-orders. So Instead I got The 39 Steps.

To be honest, I can't stand 12 ANGRY MEN. I wish they would have done another title.

I'm waiting on another Truffaut flick to be added to the collection. I have a feeling that THE BRIDE WORE BLACK might be a contender. SUCH A GORGEOUS GIRL LIKE ME would be nice, as well, simply because I haven't watched it yet.

I randomly found the del Toro one a few days ago. Dude takes a shitload of stuff, then seems a little pissed off when he finds out they don't have any Paths of Glory. Excellent.

Doubt Lawrence will ever make it to Criterion, but more Lean is generally a good thing. They're doing Blithe Spirit, which will be great.

They need to do The Sound Barrier, which is ridiculously good and yet no one can be bothered talking about it.

Also, I want a Criterion version of One-Eyed Jacks.
