| I didn't see an NFL thread so I thought I'd start one. I hope there's lots of other NFL fans out there on these boards and not just soccer fans. This is the most wonderful time of the year!!! Temperatures are getting cooler, the leaves are changing colors, pumpkin festivals are right around the corner...and the NFL season is finally here. For the next five months life is worth living again (I nearly lost it when I thought the lockout would never end):
Date & Time Favorite Spread Underdog 9/8 8:30 ET At Green Bay -4 New Orleans 9/11 1:00 ET At Baltimore -2.5 Pittsburgh 9/11 1:00 ET At Tampa Bay -1.5 Detroit 9/11 1:00 ET Atlanta -3 At Chicago 9/11 1:00 ET At Kansas City -6.5 Buffalo 9/11 1:00 ET At Houston -6.5 Indianapolis 9/11 1:00 ET Philadelphia -5 At St. Louis 9/11 1:00 ET At Cleveland -6.5 Cincinnati 9/11 1:00 ET At Jacksonville -3 Tennessee 9/11 4:15 ET NY Giants -3 At Washington 9/11 4:15 ET At Arizona -7 Carolina 9/11 4:15 ET At San Francisco -5.5 Seattle 9/11 4:15 ET At San Diego -9 Minnesota 9/11 8:25 ET At NY Jets -4.5 Dallas
Monday Night Football Point Spread 9/12 7:00 ET New England -7 At Miami 9/12 10:15 ET At Denver -3 Oakland
My picks:Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Tampa, Buffalo, Houston, St.Louis, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Washington, Arizona, Seattle, Minnesota, Jets, New England and Denver.
I think there'll be several upsets this coming week: San Diego is a notoriously slow starter each season, as are the NY GIants, which is why I'm picking them both to lose. I think Vick is going to ultimately fail in Philadelphia and Andy Reid will be shown the door after this season, which is why I'm picking St. Louis to start off the season with a win against the Eagles. |

Yes. At Wembley Stadium between the Chicago Bears and The Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Could be a good matchup. Bucaneers should be a team on the rise this year. Date is October 23rd, 2001 at 1:00 pm EST, which means it should be played at around 6:00 pm in England. |

| NFL spoke this week about really pushing forward on a deal to establish a permanent team in London within a few years. They're already talking of adding multiple games to the London schedule instead of just one a year. Judging by the response of the crowd at today's Bears/Buccaneer's game, I think London is ripe and ready to have an NFL franchise, and I for one would welcome our limey friends into the elite, rarefied air of being a city that has an NFL team. (I would also like to say the same for Miami, but I have seen no evidence that there is an NFL team in that city; certainly not one that lives up to professional standards). |

Speaking of "suck." The poor Colts :geek: How the mighty have fallen. |

| Tuned in the last half of the Tebow/Brady bowl.
Boy was that ugly. Was the Broncos offensive line all hungover. Sack after sack after negative gain.
Poor Tebow. But what was he thinking on 4th and goal? 4 Bad passes in a row. Damn. I though the Broncs could at least run the ball when things got tough.
Not that it mattered. The game was over at the half anyway.
Good job Timbo. See ya next year. Take it all the way next time.
Meantime. I hate Tom Brady. ( this week anyway)
Go Ravens! |

Go Ravens! Well, it's all over now. The day after the Super Bowl is the saddest day of the year for me, because it means we have to go a whole, solid 6 months before we see a football game again. It's over. It's all over. I really, trully, don't know what to do with my life right now. I live for football. I breathe football. I eat and drink football. We discuss football at work everyday, and know we all don't know how to talk to each other if there's no football to talk about; it's like they're strangers to me. No more Tim Tebow for 6 months. No more Matty "Ice"...no more Dallas Cowboys underperforming....No more buffalo wings....no more football parties. Time to start hitting the gym, I guess, and start taking off that NFL weight we all gained during the season. Oh sure, there'll be some off-season drama like the draft, mini-camp holdouts, whether Peyton will be re-signed by the Colts....etc....but there will be this huge pit of sadness...this void in my life that will exist for the next sixth months :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( |

| Stanley Cup playoffs and the start of the baseball season are on the horizon. I watch hockey baseball and football, so I'm never in withdrawl. I must say, what a prima, Giselle Bundchen is. Bundchen was caught on video by TheInsider.com saying, "You (have) to catch the ball when you're supposed to catch the ball. My husband cannot (expletive) throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. "I can't believe they dropped the ball so many times." Miss football-expert, schooling the Pats receivers. Brady's going to feel about this big when he faces his teammates. "keep that princess wife of yours away from the locker room, Tom!" That's what happens when you hook-up with a celebrity trophy wife. She makes it all about you. No wonder the Pats couldn't close it out. Giselle offering post-game analysis/bitching. - j7wild wrote:

Regardless, what Gisele said was stupid. To her credit, she probably was compelled to say it after seeing Tom emotionally destroyed after the game.
I'd like to day we'll be back next year, but I don't know how much longer the Brady Bunch will last. We're already seeing Peyton Manning's Colts being dismantled and it's only a couple more years before Brady's out as well. We're in this weird transition period between dynasties, like the early 80's or late 90's. |

| What I don't like in particular is this dumbass line.
" My husband cannot (expletive) throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time."
I assume she's talking about the final drive of the game, where it seems the Pats receivers, under extreme Super Bowl pressure, dropped some "catchable" balls. Yes the balls were catchable but they weren't no-brainers either. There was coverage on both plays - on one moreso than the other. It's not uncommon such passes get muffed. The receivers aren't machines. But if a drive stalls the way Brady's final drive stalled, the quarterback always has to shoulder his share of the blame. He's the biggest part of the equation.
My husband can't do everything. Brady should ask her not to come to anymore games. What an embarrasment.
She's such a prima, she acts like Brady bears no fault. What a bitch. The well worn sports motto, "win as a team, lose as a team" doesn't resonate in her shallow, "worship me" supermodel world.
"My husband cannot (expletive) throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time."
Poor Giselle was denied her post Superbowl happy partying by the Pat's receivers. Wah Wah Wah" |

Giants Brandon Jacobs has piped up: http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2012/02/08/giants-jacobs-gisele-needs-to-stay-cute-and-shut-up/ This is one of the funniest sports stories in a long time. Bradying "Giselle, shut the f*** up. I've still got to shower with these guys. I don't want to spend all next year, as the guy who has to pick up the soap." |

| Na na na na na. This is win-win. Manning's time is done in Indy. He's 36 years old and the Colts are the worst team in the league. Manning will say all the right things, but he knows the Colts aren't a good fit anymore.
Colts have the top pick in the draft. Makes more sense to try and build another dynasty around Andrew Luck, who should be the top pick. Manning would only hold the guy back. He's better off elsewhere. |

How rude!! It's not rude. It's business. Peyton provides a service. His value may no longer be in relation to what his contract was demanding. It is what it is. Peyton is no virgin in all of this. He is a leading member of the players union; he signed off on this collective bargaining agreement. The Colts did nothing immoral or illegal. Peyton is the past in Indy; Luck is the future. Peyton has a chance to take his skills to a team that isn't rebuilding and simply needs a quick jolt from an experienced quarterback to make them playoff contenders. |
