| Likewise. And as Auric would say, "You have been recognized!" But I see no laser beam in your future, Somerset. |

| Thankfully.
As a Fleming purist I'd expect nothing other than the buzzsaw. |

I know there is the Birmingham School of Business School. I bet that draws the tourists in droves. It is on my list, unless BI has something better to recommend. |

Well, I did/visited/saw the following - 2 cinema visits (as detailed in the 'Last Movie ... ' thread), wildlife conservation park, indoor adventure golf, Ricky Gervais live, Sea Life Centre, City Sights And History guided walking tour, the classic farce Noises Off, TV and movie locations guided walking tour (for example, there was interior shooting in the city's main station in which it was standing in for Abu Dhabi airport in the most recent M:I movie), improv comedy night, West Midlands Police Museum and a canal cruise (Birmingham has more of them than Venice, true story). |

| First there was a dream.
Then there was a reality.
Well chaps, I'm back.
The past year has been a bewildering blur.
Finishing my masters, the Queen dying, moving flats, trouble at work, brushes with the law etc
but godwilling I'm back. I'll dip my toes in properly soon.

| The prodigal son returneth after wandering in the desert 16 months. This is a good omen. |

Did check with Fields/KKBB at one stage as to your whereabouts or whatever, he said that your internet connection issues were persistent. |

| Health and quality of life issues are piling up here at home, along with being down to one outlet for the writing, so I may need to get some kind of PT job to augment my modest day income and the occasional ICG check. I've actually spent as much time trying to hunt up new writing outlets as doing actual writing, which seems crazy.
Final straw was a place focused on postproduction that sounded very enthusiastic about having me as a regular contributor, but then went radio-silent when I relayed my rate of pay -- which hasn't gone up since 2000, and remains, so I'm lead to believe, less than half of what TV GUIDE was paying back in the 1980s. Only way to make up for inflation, therefore, is through volume or other means.
As a result of this and aforementioned other factors, I may not be posting too frequently or at all in near future, but am hoping this doesn't become an extended absence like before.
Enjoyed chatting with you all, hoping the site continues to bring in the occasional fresh voice,
Kevin |
