| Me neither. As sacrilegious as turning TB's blood red shark pool blue. |

| Tough call to decide between those two deaths. But Tracy never fails to bring tears to my eyes. |

| It's like comparing pepsi to absinthe and trying to justify the difference.
James Bond was affected by both...not one more than the other.

| Dare say one of those moments that matches in the book, every time I see the film/finish the book it has that same effect (Tracy's death that is).

| Tracy's death is definitely more affecting, both in the novels and films. |

| Tracy's death it arrives with stunning quickness and completely against tone, beautifully played and always devastating.
Vespers death in the way it is delivered on film wallows desperately in a way that is pretty much the antithesis of Bond for me. Much like the rest of Casino Royale I feel it is written with the emotional sensibility of a prepubescent teen. |

| In film, OHMSS has genuine emotion and underplays the scene both realistically and beautifully. The other has no real emotional impact and the staging is beyond poor.
To those who still claim George is a poor actor, I don't know what to say. Connery could not have played this as honestly and genuinely broken. (not heartbroken, but broken-there is a MAJOR difference!) Not even Tim could have-it would have been different with any other actor. (I shudder to think of the ultimate painface if Brosnan's script limited Bond had endured the lowest point.) But the novels manage to equal if not best this because of the inner character and humanization of Bond that is not in any of the films save for brief glimpses and the 60's era. |

| Agreed.
Vesper's death is completely botched in CR, because they had to make it part of another big action scene -- like if Tracy's death in OHMSS had come right at the end of the Piz Gloria battle. |
