| If you could only take five Bond movies with you on a trip to a deserted island, which five would you pick?
Here are my choices:
-GoldenEye -Tomorrow Never Dies -License to Kill -A View to a Kill -The World is not Enough |

| Makes it easier to narrow it down to one film per actor. Would have included FRWL, but took it off and I left in DN because that's the one that started it all and had Connery's best performance. OHMSS, because it's damn good. MR because it's damn fun. TLD for Dalton and SF for being the best Modern Bond flick.
Dr. No On Her Majesty's Secret Service Moonraker The Living Daylights Skyfall
I could not imagine getting stuck with TWINE. That's like a level of hell for me. Would make me beg for DAD. |

| Yikes! What choices! I wouldn't be touching TND or AVTAK with a ten foot pole!
Five Desert Island Bonds?
DN, FRWL, GF, TB, OHMSS.
Maaaaybe SF instead of TB, but I doubt it. |

| I only need one: DN. So I can pretend Honey is on the island with me. It's going to be many long lonely nights on that deserted island not knowing if you are ever going to be rescued. You got to think outside the box or in this case, you got to think inside the Honey box to keep you from going insane. Seriously, who else would you rather want to be stuck on a deserted island with? Those other Bond girls or |

| I'd bring DAD as motivation to find a way off the island. |

I'd bring it along as a reminder that I'd escaped to a better place. |

| As per Python these aren't my top five but rather ones I'd take for the best mix of quality, variety and replayability.
Thunderball (most thrills) On Her Majesty's Secret Service (Best overall) Diamonds are Forever (Most fun) Goldeneye (best celebration) Skyfall (Best modern interpretation)
SF is still fresh so may have to surrender to TLD or FRWL or MR |

Those five reminds me of this, what about if: 1. We need electricity and there is none. 2. We do have laptop with battery (how long with they last if there's no electricity) 3. INo laptop, what about a DVD player? 4. Last minute grab before the shop wrecks, what if we accidentally picked up AVTAK, DAD, TWINE, QOS or, well, TND? 5. What if there are some razors lying around alongside the DVDs mentioned in no. 4. Your choice is as good as mine. |

Actually, DAD's existence--among other things--is motivating me to find a deserted island. |

| Top three are easy: FRWL (best of the best of the best, sir!),TLD and LTK (despite various deficiencies, I found them riveting and supremeley rewatchable, plus Dalton evokes Fleming for me supremely (Connery exceeds Fleming for me, so that puts him almost on a level that is unapproachable.)
4 & 5 would I guess be for rewatchability, or else what, for combo of aesthetics (art direction, score, etc.)
I can't pick OHMSS because Laze is just not there (he might have gotten there eventually, but not right out of the gate, the way he swing punches like a girl is just an utter loss, as is the way he bends his leg sideways when getting into the boat during the PTS.)
I can't pick QUANTUM because while it is the only Craig I'll probably ever even rewatch again, it's still Craig, plus the ADD editing and the fact that I only really like about 20 minutes of it at best. But there are individual frames in the film, like the generals at the desert hotel, that I'd be proud to hang on the wall as posters (noticeably, Craig himself is not in any of those. It'd be like having Jack Palance as a contestant at a beauty pageant. )
Moore himself takes some decent entries out of the running, just by being Moore and part of that BurtReynoldsization of Bond in the 70s. Miniature work in SPY and MR is very memorable, as is Barry's score in the latter, but god, I hate both movies (SPY for its schizophrenia, MR for reveling in its own stupidity and squandering a good moment or two in otherwise awful film.)
None of the Brozzers rate either, tho if TAILOR OF PANAMA had been a Bond movie, it would have been on the top 5. John Boorman might be the director I most wish had directed a Bond film (tho given some of his uber-misses, it might be good that it never happened, too. I own EXORCIST II, but mainly just for the score and Burton.)
Guess 4 & 5 have to be TB and GF, almost by default. Think TB probably triggered one of my first erections when I caught it on a double-bill with YOLT in sixth grade or so, and GF probably set me on that path, what with seeing that chick painted all gold up on an enormous screen before I turned age 4. |
