| He was just another member, that's it, nothing special about him. |

| Whether or not some of you appreciated Ambler's opinions and comments, he was still one of the main contributors on this site. Actually, at one point, I think he contributed the most posts, before skipping town.
So, I'd be willing to argue that Ambler was indeed a centerpiece of this forum. After all, with B&B's current status, new discussions and user contributions are paramount. Oh, and Rave's chest is, too. |

No - they're just a pair of mounts.... I'll get me coat.... Actually, we auditioned a drummer tonight. He was pretty damn good actually. But is it just me being old fashioned, or is it a bit off to mention a lady's boobs on a first meeting??? |

I think proper etiquette when meeting a pair of solid mounts or good rack for the first time, is to stare right at them briefly (preferably without tongue hanging out or eyes popping out of sockets) and then ever so deftly compliment eyes. That usually works. Rave are you the most talented person on this board. You're writing a cook book :study: and you're a singer in a rock band :afro: !!! Awesome! |

Definitely one of the main contributors, yep. And the post count and the quality of some of the posts back that up. - Mr. Brown wrote:

The current status leaves Ambler looking like something of a former centrepiece, yep, because people flocked around him and responded to his posts, but we've still got posters here who can or should be generating the same kind of interest through their posts. I think we shouldn't sell short some of the great posters still here in the wake of Ambler's departure, and I think if more people can show the confidence to step up to bat with good posts and also be bothered to respond regularly to the posts of others, then there won't be a problem. IMO, it was the aura which surrounded Ambler as much as anything which has created the slight lull in activity here; As well as being highly intelligent and witty, he was also an influential member, as was Harmsway, and having them leave without fanfare possibly made other members think something was wrong with this place, when in reality it was perhaps just a case of Ambler and Harms maybe having higher standards to be met and bigger expectations for this place than everyone else. While I too have high hopes and expectations for this place, there's also no escaping the harsh reality that this place is just a forum after all at the end of the day, it's not something people are gonna devote their entire lives to or anything. I fully accept the reality that people have busy lives, but at the same time we could really use people just posting a few times a day as opposed to merely browsing. That's a problem here as much as anything, the pervading sense of everyone just waiting for somebody else other than themselves to re-energise this place instead of realising that we ourselves, the lot of us, are the only ones who can do that. This was a role which Ambler fulfilled to a great degree here, but my point is that others here can go a long way to filling his shoes, for example it doesn't take too much to post a YouTube of the last song you listened to and make a few observations about it, or to make a pile of funny suggestive comments in the adult threads. There's people here right now who are more than capable of doing that. There's also plenty of intelligent film buffs here too, so I'm just hoping that people here will choose to follow the example Ambler set when he was here and in full flow, as opposed to merely echoing the air of resignation he perhaps felt when departing. I still think things will pick up here anyway when big enough news turns up to generate mass discussion but, given the members we have here, I think this place is more than capable of flourishing regardless. I think practically everybody here is a great poster in one way or another, so it's just a case of everyone caring enough to put in the effort. So, in short, Ambler is missed. But there's enough quality here in the memberlist to render his departure as being merely a move which put us up against the ropes for a bit as opposed to a full-on KO. |

| I'm not trying to degrade the members that continue to post here. We've got a great bunch, still.
My comments regarding Ambler were replies to a couple of recent posts in this thread. I simply don't think it's fair to write him off as "just another member" now that he's left the forum, merely because he, perhaps, rubbed a couple of people the wrong way and was blunt with his comments and opinions. He was a top member, whether or not some of us would like to admit it, and a lot of his insight was invaluable.
You also made a good point, Laz, about members like Ambler setting an example of standards for B&B posts.
Other than all of that, has anyone talked to any potentially future members? It'd still be nice to get some new blood flowing around here, although our leading ladies are doing a good job of keeping it flowing. Amiright?
I'm off to find Helga. |

I know, no worries. I just hope new members will notice the quality of some of the other posts in here, such as reviews in the "last film you watched" thread, the humour in numerous other threads etc, yet strangely a newcomer can somehow recognise Ambler's massive contributions despite 99% of his posts having been under the username of "Guest" since he left. Strange..... I could swear Ambler's still here. Wouldn't put it past him. |

| I wouldn't put it past him, either. Specifically, I wonder about this stupidwhiteguy, although I don't think he's Ambler necessarily.
We've actually gotten a pretty good influx of new members recently, they just haven't done much. Hopefully we'll get some rookies with genuine interest and talent soon. |

| Personally I would be happy to contribute to the building of a shrine to Herr Ambler. Even in this economy I could part with 20 bucks. I do hope though that he is mounting a campaign to overthrow the governments of Europe and set himself up as King of the EU. :king: In the meantime we solider on, as that's what Ambler would want. :bounce: |

I invited him via YouTube a while back. And he said : - Quote :
- Hey thanks, i read some of the threads about the alternate endings ; they're showing up as links on the videos. I won't be making anything for a while i'm trying to keep focused on finding work right now. if i edit anything again it will probably be something i filmed myself. I only made the trailers to add something to my editing reel which looks like crap without them. Nice to know they're popular somewhere though lol.
Anyhow I'll sign up, i'm not much of a socializer but i'll try to keep in touch.
So I presume he won't be about again for a while. And a warm welcome to beyondbond! Introduce yourself and get posting! |

I'm afraid I was joking about being a big fan of Daniel Craig. Have a look at the DanielCraigisnotBond forum and you will see i have been on there since the beginning of 2007! |

| Hello all, I'm a big Bond fan, particularly of Daniel Craig. I don't like womanisers, charm, humour, Ian Fleming, decent music, or imaginative set design, so Nu Bond suits me right down to the ground.
In other news, I'm 66, believe manmade climate change is a fact, and represented Ambrosia in the long jump at the Tokyo Olympics. I also like benzodiazepine, spelling bees, toblerone, necrophilia, and shaven pudenda. I think I'll fit right in here so please make me welcome. |

M is currently ordering the collected works of John Ruskin, sending mass invites to George Monbiot and every active member of CACC, installing a shrine to the one and true God - Steven Fry, and banning all users over 30. Bond and Beyond is about tolerance., for real yo.
