| Not so sure about Fassbender's suggestion of another reboot but still, beats some of the alternatives including this one. http://theplaylist.net/jamie-bell-discussing-james-bond-role-producers-daniel-craig-may-not-done-007-20160526/

| Billy fucking Elliot as James Bond? Just take the character out to the paddock and shoot him already.
Fassbender is the only credible choice. If they go with one of these kiddy-looking boy band types, it's all over red over. They've made a film - SPECTRE - that has people asking existential questions about the character and the series. Even after DAD, people still said the franchise could be salvaged by taking a more grounded, realistic direction. Now that angle has run its course, except now no one has any clear idea about what fresh direction to sail the ship towards. We could very well be seeing the saga in its death throes. |

| I don't think that any of the actors currently being touted by the media as "in negotiations" or having "had talks" about the role are going to get it. This strikes me as being very similar to the Clive Owen debate that raged prior to Craig's casting, when we saw Owen and countless others being heavily touted by the media before Craig came out of seemingly nowhere to emerge as the frontrunner much later on.
There's also no distributor for MGM, so there's not much that EON can really do in terms of setting up BOND 25. The distributor will surely want some say, even if the amount of influence they end up wielding isn't all that great, into some of the creative decisions, such as who gets to play Bond in the next film. |

| I wouldn't be surprised if EON has met with some of these people, as the media claims, but there are certainly no solid offers being put out there. If anything, they're most likely in the beginning stages of reaching out and getting in touch with potential candidates to come in and test for the role if/when Craig announces he's done. |

| As far as Hiddleston, Fassbender and Hardy are concerned, I'm not sure they'll need to test. It would most likely be a straight up offer. |

I reckon he'll be back in the future. He's been the most enthusiastic of Bond directors since John Glen. |

I think she'll make them test. She made Craig test for it and she practically bent over backwards to get him to say yes to the part. |

I reckon he'll be back in the future. He's been the most enthusiastic of Bond directors since John Glen. As one commenter wrote at Deadline: "They should’ve figured this all out before Spectre. Don’t introduce Blofeld only to reboot the franchise." I'm not totally convinced Craig is done. For that matter, I'm not convinced Mendes is done either. One angle that people may try to use to get both to come back is the chance to right the wrongs of SPECTRE; to try to bring closure to that storyline; to finish the stealth-OHMSS remake they both began. I think it would be a mistake for anyone connected to SPECTRE to return; there needs to be a creative clean sweep of the entire office, including Michael and Barbara selling their rights to someone else. Furthermore, trying to wrap up SPECTRE's loose ends would simply be going further down a road that should never have been traveled in the first place. No good will come of it. Making a sequel to right the wrongs of the previous entry is a gamble; didn't work well for ALIEN: RESURRECTION, and not so well for SUPERMAN RETURNS either. Just do with BOND 25 what LALD did after DAF: don't try to explain the change in actor; don't try to retcon previous movies; just get on with the business of making an entertaining movie. We don't need an analytical film that explains the duality of being both a hero and an anti-hero. Bond doesn't need explaining or psychoanalyzing. Can we just get back to having a bit of fun? It'd be nice to have Bond walk across the screen with a pool in the background and some bikini-clad women decorating the set. Be nice to have a movie where every object in the frame isn't beige, brown, orange, rust or sand-colored. Would be nice to have a Bond poster where Bond isn't so dour looking; like he's passing a kidney stone or something. |

Not going to happen with Craig and Mendes in the hot seat. SPECTRE tried to add a bit of humour back into the fray, but it was overwhelmed by the usual deep n' gritty Bond-goes-rogue/mole-in-MI6/it's-personal/my-brother-wants-to-kill-me angle. I'm almost convinced that the days of "Bond goes on a mission, wins, fucks a bird, the end" are long gone. Now every Bond movie needs to have a "point" to it and a further unraveling of this deep, Phlegmingesque, tortured soul. |

| If I had to put money down on whether Craig is returning, I'd say he's done.
Why?
http://deadline.com/2016/06/purity-limited-series-starring-daniel-craig-20-episode-order-showtime-1201765269/
#1 His willingness to move to television signals to me that he thinks his film career is over; he hasn't had a great film career outside of Bond. Most of everything else he's been in has had mediocre box office. He may need to go away for a while as a movie actor in order to have a comeback.
#2 He's moving to Showtime. It's not as if it's HBO. Showtime has good shows, but it gets only 25% of the audience HBO has, and this project just doesn't sound like it's going to be a breakout show that puts Showtime back on the map the way The Sopranos, True Blood, or Game Of Thrones has.
#3 Why would the new studio want an actor playing Bond who can also be seen on television? Cubby wouldn't do it for Pierce Brosnan, and though Barbara has certainly run things differently than her father, I'm not sure the financial backers at the next studio are going to look at Craig and think that, at his age and at this point in his tenure as Bond, he's worth spending $20-25 million to get back for one last film when he's devaluing his own brand by appearing on episodic television.

| Yeah Craig is done. No doubts about it.
In other news, Night Manager director is being linked to Bond 25. Given her gender and the fact she directed a critically acclaimed spy TV show, I'd say Babs' interest has peaked. Michael wouldn't give two shits about it.

| I've just started watching The Night Manager and I have to say, I wouldn't mind if Susanne Bier directs Bond 25.
And I also have to say that if, IF Michael Fassbender isn't the next Bond, and an unknown actor who is exactly how Bond should be isn't either, then I wouldn't be so opposed to Hiddleston being Bond. I just don't know how well he's going to age though, so it might be a two film deal. But he has the chops, he looks more like a Bond than Craig, and the way Bier has crafted his entrances in certain scenes, it definitely has a James Bond vibe.
Still, Michael Fassbender is my first choice. And the only choice that covers all aspects of Bond. |

Bullshit.
The thing to remember about Bond casting rumours is that many, many actors will be linked to it at some stage (often on very flimsy or even no evidence) by journos eager to create attention-grabbing copy/clickbait. |
