| It will be interesting to see if the GOP course corrects now that their embrace of Trumpism seems to have cost them in last night's elections. Apparently GOP candidates faced (heavy) losses in all areas where Trump's approval rating is currently 45% or lower. The national average is currently 37%. If that trend would repeat itself for the midterms next year, it is not inconceivable that the Democrats might end up with majorities in both the House and the Senate. |

| FWIW, Trump is right to practice realpolitik with China, rather than lecture them on what their proper system of governance ought to be. I was just pointing out the lack of a reaction from Fox News types who used to red-bait Obama for having mustard in his burger (which is, of course, a much more civilised option than ketchup). |

Generally, I favour pragmatism over ideology, though many China governmental practices are disgusting. I'm thinking of foreign as much as domestic policy here - academics rightly condemn The Berlin Conference of almost a 150 years ago, but should take a closer look at what China is doing in Africa today; exploitative does not begin to describe it. |

| What a time to be alive. Future generations will sit in awe one day as crusty old codgers tell the tales of this epoch. |

| I don't think it's a great thing for the world for the POTUS to have the insecurity of a 16-year old girl. |

As a woman I find that comment sexist and demeaning. |

Maybe if he had it in 1962, JFK would've tweeted Khruschev as a fat little bald man prone to frothing at the mouth. |

| So let's talk about the moon. They're always saying we need to discuss the moon - and can I just say, it really is a tremendous moon, really just a big, beautiful moon - and they say, Mr President, we need to put people on the moon. I say that's great, because if we don't put people on the moon then maybe our astronaut jobs will go to Russia and Mexico - by the way, folks, the wall will be built, believe me - and so I say maybe we should go put people on the moon. Now then they say, when are we going to put the people on the moon? Maybe this decade - and really it's a tremendous decade, really quite a spectacular decade - and I say maybe this decade will be the decade that we put the people on the moon and I think it really will be quite a spectacular, bigly event when it comes to the moon. |
