... Is this for real? I'm not sure why a few lines discussing his childhood means that Babs is fucking each and every of us up our respective pooper-shooters. Wasn't there an orbituary or something in YOLT? I googled this. Bond's early childhood was spent on the European continent where he travelled due to his father's work (and from this early education he "inherited a first-class command of French and German"). When he was eleven, his parents were killed in a climbing accident. He then lived with his aunt, "Miss Charmian Bond ...At age twelve or thereabouts he was sent to Eton, but he was expelled "as a result ... of some alleged trouble with one of the boys' maids". Is it really a big deal if Craig glosses over some of this, adapted for the movie? Or would you rather M pulls out one of her tits for him to nurse on? :face: |

| The call sheet for that scene reads "EXT. SCOTLAND ROAD." My guess is it's this shoot from Glencoe. That house supposedly belonged to Bond's father, Andrew Bond. From what we know, it's called "Skyfall lodge", the villains are going to attack it, and it'll be blown up (with the set being built on Hankley Common). |

If your review of the call sheet is any indication, I don't know if I can wait to read your review of the film. And I know some people are trying to avoid spoilers, but you're going to have to stay out of the SKYFALL threads if you absolutely don't want to know anything about the movie. However, I feel a public service has been done for true Bond fans all over the world by giving them advance warning about SKYFALL (which apparently, according to the script, is a ski-in/ski-out lodge in Aspen run by Andrew Bond...or some such rubbish). |

I fail to see how you and Ambler are the only "true" Bond fans. Anyone who registered with the forums should be entitled to claim they are a "true" Bond fan, regardless of whether or not they are looking forward to SKYFALL. |

| Bond talking about his childhood should never rear its ugly head in a Bond film, particularly chatting over a vodka martini to Mother Hen figure M.
I hope to God this is just a rumour, or maybe has been filmed then rightly dropped and cut out from the film.
If its true, then a scene like this tells you everything you need to know about the direction of Skyfall. TWINE Part II....only far, far worse.
Craig looks like shit in this film from the photos seen. His hair is like a skinhead, and for part of the film he dons a grey stubble beard. Both of these images do not reflect the Bond of the novels.
Other than the return of the Aston DB5, and the heavy use of UK locations, there is not much else I am optimistic now about Skyfall.
Each new piece of news that gets leaked online is getting uglier by the day....

To be fair, if Bond's headed to his ancestral home with M in tow, then a bit of conversation about his time there seems expected. |

If this was written by Maibaum, under the direction of Terence Young and Cubby - then yes. But under Babs, Beavis & Butthead, who have attempted this type of `drama' before, then I fear the worst. |

| Shocking. Everyone expecting the worst over one sentence from a call sheet.
The unfounded negativity here is becoming unbearable. |

To be fair, if Bond's headed to his ancestral home with M in tow, then a bit of conversation about his time there seems expected. My thoughts run to an endless scene (thankfully cut from theatrical release) of John Logan's STAR TREK NEMESIS, with Picard and Data talking and talking and talking, with only the feeblest of staging (courtesy non-director Stuart "I get Goldsmith to score my films so that will make up for most if not all of my ineptitude in shooting anything at all" Baird). While I'm of the opinion that Picard usually won by talking his opponents to death, the idea of doing this to the audience seems kinda strange. For a Bond film to indulge in this ... reeks of the Bond/Vesper intro in the 06 CR, which left me wondering which alternate reality they were setting the film in, since Bond's reminiscences in the books were usually just in-head reveries. The occasion when he explains how he got Double-0 status to Vesper in Fleming's CR is actually a smart bit of character exposition arising out of her legitimate interest and his response - a casual debunking of the mythical importance of said status - deals with the issue in a way that illuminates. I can't for the life of me understand the call to place this family home as a key to the whole film. It sounds about as likely as one of those 'whole movie rests on coincidence' bits of plotting I associate with Mr Lucas on what I recall of his prequel trilogy. |

Exactly. I seem to recall similar uproar when talk first started about a scene in QUANTUM OF SOLACE where Bond and Camille discuss what it means to kill. The end product, with Bond telling her to take her time and to try not to over-compensate for the adrenaline, was nowhere near the disaster everyone expected it to be. - Gravity's Silhouette wrote:

No, I just think it's incredibly presumptuous of you to claim that you are the only true Bond fan, with the unspoken implication being that anyone who disagrees with you is a living insult to Ian Fleming's memory. |

That sounds like a scene out of 'Crazy, Stupid, Love' Also 'Eve shaves Bond'. His chest, presumably? |

| This reminds me, does anybody remember that (terrible) series of fanfiction on the MI6 main page by the late, great Andrew Plewa? The second chapter had Bond having a three way with Bibi Dahl and her daughter and it climaxed with Bond shooting Blofeld while Blofeld screwed Tracy up the arse as she snorted a gargantuan pile of coke.
It truly was magnificent. |

ROTFLMAO! You're really having to scrape the bottom of the logic barrel if you think using QUANTUM OF SOLACE is going to boost your argument. - Quote :
