Correct. I never tried to offer anything as "evidence" because all I've ever offered is OPINIONS. What about that concept is so hard for you to get?
I'm sorry that my opinions intrude upon your myopic world view of what EON is doing with the series. I'm sorry that my points of view clash with your life of champagne wishes and caviar dreams. I wish you could live in a world where only your opinions were all that were ever considered. I wish that I had a pet unicorn that I fed Skittles to every morning for breakfast, that I farted only rainbows after eating a bowl of chilli, and that my best friend was a leprechaun. I've learned to deal with my disappointments and so can you.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that you should come down off the cross, man. Other people need the wood.

Agreed, I'm getting very turned off by this cynicism. It's a wonder anyone even finds enjoyment out of Bond films.

Maybe it's more just a case of "Serious Bond" vs "Pulp/Escapade Bond", and we shouldn't get so worked up about it. Some people just prefer one type of Bond film over the other. A lot of people didn't want more Licence To Kill back in the day either, and they got their wish. But the takings do the talking here, and Casino and Quantum made bucketloads, so I can understand us getting more of the same. Though I'm now admittedly a bit torn over SkyFall after reading through this thread. Gravity makes some decent points, while Lazenby's debunking of the call sheet managed to be hilarious, worrying, potentially justified and scarily unhinged all at once. Hopefully this thread won't descend into anarchy.

This pretty much. The movie will make a bucketload either way and we'll still be here in three years discussing the next one. Probably with the exact same points.

Looks like a tribute to the finales of OHMSS and DAF, except with only one gunship - a Merlin (AgustaWestland AW101). The other one's a filming helicopter with the Alexa rigged to its nose.

Does this mean Bond will fight with cohorts? This is all I have been asking for. There hasn't been such a scene since THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS.

Your Youtube video reminded me of a time back in late August/early September of 1988 when Joel Siegel (of Good Morning America) visited the Key West set of what was then called LICENSE REVOKED and filmed the crew doing the stunt where Bond jumps out of the Coast Guard helicopter and lands behind the oil barrels. Six to eight weeks into filming and Bond fans had the entertainment correspondent for the biggest morning show in America interviewing the principal actors and actresses of LICENSE REVOKED. And back then we only had 3 major television networks and a handful of established entertainment outlets to choose from (Entertainment Tonight being the biggest). Unfortunately, I cannot find any YouTube footage of Siegel's Key West visit. I would have thought someone would have uploaded it.
So how is that 24 years onward, with access to hundreds of new media outlets, people with cell phone cameras, blogs, websites, dozens of major entertainment news shows and magazines, we actually know less about SKYFALL than we did about LICENSE REVOKED? How is that humanly possible? SKYFALL has an Oscar winning director, A-list acting talent (Craig, Dench, Bardem and Fiennes) and we know almost nothing about the film. Why go out and hire this A-list talent if you're not going to be showcasing them/it?
I mean, even in a modern, new-media world of Facebook all we've managed to get from EON and SONY's p.r. department have been pictures of the clapperboard and some birthday cupcakes uploaded to Facebook.

Since the Merlin's a British helicopter, I'm guessing those blokes with guns are SAS or some other special forces unit. Apparently this was a rehearsal or just preliminary filming. Daniel Craig wasn't on set, but his stunt double was seen driving the Aston.

I've heard that Sam Mendes is going to extreme lengths to keep the film under wraps. When filming began, he reportedly filmed everything out of sequence and replaced all the minor crew members every two days to keep information from leaking. Based on some of his comments, he wants SKYFALL to be the best film in the franchise, and it seems he won't settle for anything less. I get the sense that he wants as much kept secret as is humanly possible, and so far I'd say he's doing a damn good job of it.

I'm guessing EON felt they gave too much away too early with QOS, with all the video blogs and interviews. Remember stuff like this?

They pretty much gave away the entire plot with a press release at the announcement of filming. And then the second conference in Chile gave away even more details, including the ending.

I don't remember it, but the links you provided don't give much away. The last time I was genuinely surprised about something in a Bond movie was when discovering that Kara was Koskov's girlfriend. Back then (at 16 years of age) I only had Bondage Quarterly and 007 Magazine, and they didn't offer any spoilers in their coverage.
MGM made no attempt to hide the fact that 006 was the villain of GOLDENEYE, and a lot of people correctly guessed that Elektra and Miranda were working against 007 without the benefit of having the film spoiled for them. The films used to follow a certain formula, so most of what happens in SKYFALL should not be a surprise. Mendes better have something really good up his sleeve to justify his criminal negligence in properly promoting this film.

Ah, but in TWINE and DAD, we had details of those characters in advance. Enough to work out their actual alleigances. Without those details, we wouldn't have been able to guess at anything until the film began. So even if SF follows the same formula as the other films, the lack of detail means all we can do is blindly speculate.

I'm sure both Mendes and EON have something good up their sleeves. No point cranking the 50th anniversary machinery this early on...before the summer movies...maybe when the teaser trailer gets released? There's still well over 6 months to go...
