Tried watching the extended cut of SUPERMAN. It's difficult to get through because, well, the remixed audio is such a hack job. Does anyone actually buy that story of the original audio mix getting deteriorated like VERTIGO bad? It was only 20 years old when the restoration was being produced.
The theatrical cut has the original stereo. Well, I had to send my original DVD to Warner to get a replacement in the mail.

Yeah I tried getting a replacement awhile ago but I got no answer or an envelope to send my disc. It's been six years since that release so I doubt they're offering them now. I might as well wait until the release the theatrical cut on blu-ray individually. I'm not interested in the whole set.

Sharky's favorite composer of all time will score MAN OF STEEL....
Hans Zimmer scoring 'Man of Steel' Nolan's go-to music man back for WB's Superman reboot By JEFF SNEIDER
Hans Zimmer, who worked on all three films in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, is set to reteam with the filmmaker once again, as Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder have tapped him to score their Superman pic "Man of Steel."
Legendary Pictures and Atlas Entertainment produced the superhero tentpole with Syncopy, Cruel & Unusual Films and DC Entertainment. Nolan and producing partner Emma Thomas produced the film with Atlas topper Charles Roven and Cruel & Unusual principal Deborah Snyder. Legendary's Thomas Tull exec produced with Lloyd Phillips.
In addition to "Batman Begins," "The Dark Knight" and this summer's "The Dark Knight Rises," Zimmer worked with Nolan on "Inception," for which he received an Oscar nomination. He has been nominated for nine Oscars and previously won for Disney's "The Lion King."
John Williams was nominated for an Oscar for creating the iconic theme to Richard Donner's original "Superman" in 1978.
"Man of Steel" will mark the first Snyder-directed pic on which the helmer hasn't worked with composer Tyler Bates, who scored "Dawn of the Dead," "300," "Watchmen" and "Sucker Punch."
"Man of Steel," which hits theaters on June 14, 2013, stars Henry Cavill as the titular superhero, while the rest of the cast includes Russell Crowe, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue and Christopher Meloni.
Zimmer is repped by WME.

Well, I'm pissed.
I actually kinda like Zimmer's Batman scores, but Superman deserves better. Alan Silvestri, maybe.

No.
They should just stop making Superman movies for a while.
Why reboot the franchise when they just did it with Superman Returns only 6 years ago?
What we need is a proper Supergirl movie.
Not that junk we got in 1984.

From what I understand they don't have a choice. WB either produces a movie by 2013 or else they lose the rights for a long long time.

Yeah, considering the circumstances the time is right for another Superman film. They waited 19 years and fucked it up, so hopefully they'll wait 7 years and do it right this time.
I'll go on record, I like SUPERMAN IV better than RETURNS. I mean, it's more entertaining. And I dig the score.

Ottman dude, who did X2. Don't get me wrong, I think SR had a good score. One of the best scores in the post-X-MEN superhero craze IMHO.
I like IV's score. I have a real soft spot for "Someone Like You (Lacy's Theme)".
And as always, I love SUPERMAN III and I don't give a frak who knows it. That movie is quite simply too batshit insane for me not to love. In fact, if I could only watch one Reeve Supes flick ever again, I'd choose III.

I like his X2 score, I just found the one for SR pretty underwhelming.

So, the trailer hasn't leaked out onto the Internet yet? I was surprised to see it attached to THE DARK KNIGHT RISES; I hadn't read that it was confirmed yet. If you haven't seen the trailer yet, you're not missing much. It's mostly voice-over work of Kevin Costner telling young Clark that one day he'll become a man and he'll have to choose what kind of man he wants to be. It shows a 10-year old Clark playing in the backyard of his farm, running through the clothes lines with laundry hanging from them, putting on a red-towel as a cape and twirling around. Other shots include an older, bearded Clark on a fishing vessel and working in a fishing village. Only one shot of Cavill as Superman, and it is him soaring through the air like a rocket, but from a distance. If you've seen any footage of Routh flying upwards in SUPERMAN RETURNS then you've essentially seen the teaser for MAN OF STEEL.
Audience gave no reaction whatsoever to the words MAN OF STEEL on the screen. There were some pretty good laughs for THE CAMPAIGN, starring Will Ferrell, though. Not sure if I were WB I should be worried or not.

I heard jeering after the MOS trailer. Oddly, it's was the only trailer I liked that played before the movie.

That was probably me you heard jeering. I haven't gotten over the way Warner Brothers dumped Brandon Routh like he never existed. He was a great Superman. The sequels could have been so much more. Now what we're getting is yet another reboot. Sick and tired of them actually.

Did they really have to use Howard Shore's cue for the death of Gandalf from THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING?

A Superman trailer that starts off looking like a trailer for a moody arthouse flick about fishermen? Erm, OK .
