not strictly a song perhaps as it's sans words but Dennis Wilson's "Mexico"
been giving Pacific Ocean Blue a whirl though this wasn't featured on my edition.

Why, oh, why was Electric Light Orchestra not used for MOONRAKER? Had to be one of the best opportunities EON missed. Would have been a perfect match.

ELO were too lightweight for Bond, but Richard Tandy did some great arrangements for Jeff Lynne so nice to see him sitting up front. Good concert given it was more or less a pick-up band made up of a BBC orchestra and Take That. BTW, who was the bird with the violin and the cat suit? Bit more attractive than Violinski...
ELO was "too lightweight" for MOONRAKER? I don't see how ELO wasn't used for the film. Seems like a match made in heaven, to me. ELO was at the height of their popularity and Lynne's style was a perfect fit for what MOONRAKER was trying to do/be. Granted, it might not have worked on other Bond films, but this was the one indisputable chance ELO had at being part of a project that was more camp and over the top than they were.
I happen to think Moonraker was Bassey's best work, but I would have liked to have seen what a different artist could have offered.
