Fuck me, we're now considering Dignitas an option?  

If we close, what next? I still want to keep in touch with a lot of you guys, and a forum had a number of benefits that email/Skype both lack (i.e more inclusive discussion and the option to embed videos). Do we launch our own seperate forums, with more specific target audiences, or just simply part ways? The former is more appealing to me than the later.

Back when Skyfall came out, I wanted to take over and run this place (given the absences of M) because with the members here I saw so much potential. Now that we've lost so many and that they're not interested in returning, I'm not sure where we can go. A dynamic was lost.

Didn't M say he was giving up control to someone else?

This place isn't completely dead. And even if it's slow, the quality of discussion here usually beats what's going on at our competitor's places.

Like Ambler said in another post, there is nothing innately interesting about this forum by itself. It's the members that make it worthwile.

I think we lost a lot of members that way.  Plus, a lot of times something would happen "Oh, let them leave, one member leaving won't hurt." Well, we ended up losing a lot of big posters that way.

Sure, this site is slow, but I think with a few good ideas we could get this going. Tons and tons of ideas have been pitched, but not a single one acted on. What was the point of all those discussion threads if none were going to be used?

Allow 1 to 3 people to come up with ideas and put them into action. None of this "building a consensus" business because that will never work. Some of the ideas will work, some won't, but it is worth a shot.

I'm thinking of doing another Bond audio drama, maybe it won't bring in a lot of members, but the last one I did got about 2-3,000 unique listens per episode. Maybe if I tagged a link to this site, we'd get a least a few more people.

I'd say we actually try to make some changes before calling it a day. At least we can say we went down swinging.

There are about a few threads with about 20 + pages each with suggestions on how to fix/help the site, I suppose that would be a place to start. Or, I would suggest, start a new thread to gather up ideas...see who would be interested in helping out and delegating tasks. Pick a team of 3 or so people to sift through ideas and implement them. If might not work, but it's better than not trying.

People keep complaining the site is slow and not enough people, so I figure at least try to fix it. Honestly, I'm fine with the size and scope of the site because I knew the site was always meant to be a small, niche community.

The one thing that will be the death of this site is if we keep getting a ton of topics on how to fix the site over and over again, but never acting on it. I'm getting tired of these topics flooding the boards. It's kind of depressing to oyevery time you log in. No wonder people don't want to join the site. They see the mid life crisis posts and they get the hell out of here.

Maybe not closure...but I'm set to discretely slip away.

A thread I started yesterday got over 50 views and not one response. I hadn't posted in a while and came back to...basically being ignored. I just deleted it and to hell with that.

I can understand Amblers' frustration here...and my own take is to simply use whatever internet time I have left elsewhere. This isn't the place for my ribald avatars or pics anyway.

Might drop in when something about Bond is actually in the air...but to linger around during downtime here is like looking for conversation in a mortuary.
