Since the end of his term as governor of California in January, former action hero Arnold Schwarzenegger has been open and honest about his return to Hollywood.
Just weeks after the end of his political career, 63-year-old Schwarzenegger spoke of three scripts he was considering, including the WWII drama With Wings as Eagles centered on an experienced, highly-decorated Nazi soldier named Klaus Ostermann who becomes disillusioned with the war and opts to help a concentration camp full of POWs.
At the time, many speculated that the other two projects were The Expendables 2, the inevitable sequel to Sly Stallone’s macho ensemble flick, and Terminator 5.

Arnold should just stay out of it. I would prefer if the series continued in the direction SALVATION was sort of striving for. It was flawed but it had more going for it than any of the sequels featuring Arnold recycling the "sent back in time to protect ect" plot.
My rankings.
The Terminator (1984) - Just a solid horror/chase flick. Terminator 2: Judgment Day - Dumbed down but like Aliens well made. Terminator Salvation - Sort of like the Alien 3 being an interesting mess, but in a lesser extent. Otherwise I hold this and Judgment Day pretty close together. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines - Besides the ending, the whole thing is just an utter bore for me.

That video shows why modern cinema is yearning for an Arnie comeback.

I don't think Terminator only needs Ahnuld back, it also needs Cameron. BUT, with all his Avatar bulls**t, I think it's just wishful thinking.

I don't even think Cameron is needed back. Just better writers/filmmakers who can do something interesting but pull it off. SALVATION had a nifty concept going for it but it wasn't properly executed as it should have been. Still it's something. Heck I'd take it over that Avatar shit.
Plus it was so amusing watching Anton Yelchin pull a really spot on riff of Michael Biehn's melodramatic acting.

Yeah, SALVATION actually had some good stuff in it. I wouldn't mind seeing Bale, Yelchin and Howard back for another one.
Cameron isn't necessary, just a director who has an actual name and some chops besides music videos or effects work.
I mean, call me blasphemer all you like, but I enjoyed SALVATION more than JUDGEMENT DAY.

Some might call you a blasphemer just for preferring the first one over the second.
"Wuut? But dat had bad cgi man lol"
But yeah, I can see why one would prefer SALVATION over T2. It was at least a different story trying to find a new angle with the universe established, instead of a rehash of the "sent back in time to protect so and so" . I only saw it once, I might give it another watch soon. I do remember finding it better than I thought it might have been. Still it could have been better handled.
Again. No need for Arnold. If they want to continue this franchise fresh they need to learn to let go of that guy. It was tacky enough with his "cameo" in SALVATION.
But I suppose that's how much studios are dependent on nostalgia/recognition for their franchises.

My heart FROZE when I saw this. Then I finally decided to CHILL.
I think it is time to put the Terminator franchise on ICE.
Okay, I swear that's the last Batman and Robin pun.
Or I could continue, as my condition leaves me COLD to your plea of mercy!
I'll find the door myself. It was ice meeting you.
Oops, there I go again.

The second one was too long and too polished looking -- what happened to the grit and pulp of the original? It was like somewhere in th early nineties Cameron forgot how to tell a story in less than 120 minutes and spend less than eleventy billion dollars on it. The only thing T2 was really worthwhile for was bad-ass Sarah Connor, which made up for 80s teen slasher movie style Sarah Connor from the original.
