Dr. No vs. Goldfinger.

Not the movies, the villains. Which is better?

Dr. No started the standard for all villains to follow, but I think maybe Auric Goldfinger, takes it up a notch maybe, with having more screen time and plot perhaps to go with it.

What do you think?

I love how the villainy of Dr Julius No develops over the course of the first half, and Joseph Wiseman is terrifically horrifying once we meet him at Crab Key. However, I feel Frobe's Goldfinger is given so much more to do, and there's a bit more light and shade to both his characterisation and performance. So he edges out for me.

Yeah that's what I meant, is that he is given more to do. I think I might like Wiseman's performance a little better cause he is more menacing, especially with that suit, and those hands...  But Goldfinger is a considerably better written character so it's a tough one.

I guess it depends on what is more important, setting the standard, or being the most well rounded quintessential villain.

I slightly prefer Julius, but criminy, he just doesn't get enough screen time.
