Goldfinger Separated at Birth

I was just watching an excellent episode of The Twilight Zone called "The 30-fathom Grave." While viewing, I saw Michael Mellinger (Kisch in GF) play a fairly major role. The episode was made in 1963 precisely when GF would have been in production. But it wasn't Mellinger. It was an actor named Henry Scott. But it's really quite incredible because the two actors are practically identical. If you get the chance, watch the episode and see for yourself.

It's like he got a brudda in this shmall world.

Reading about Mellinger; apparently he was interned in Australia during the war, being of German birth.

Nice find, PK, they do look quite similar and being around the same time as GF as you say. Quite appropriate that the Twilight Zone is involved.

It was really quite strange. As I was watching that episode, I just assumed it was Kisch. Then, when I investigated the casting of GF and that TZ episode, I discovered it wasn't. The resemblance, including the complexion of the two men, is truly remarkable.

And I just spotted another last night whilst watching the great Aussie film about David Helfgott, Shine. Nicholas Bell, who played Ben Rosen, and Tcheky Karyo who, of course, played Dmitri Mishkin in GE. And once more, the timing is also very close: GE came out in 1995, Shine in 1996.

I was watching The Saint and the Gadget Lovers (1967) the other night, and when I saw the character named Claude Molliere  I though, "isn't that the St. Petersburg computer store manager from GoldenEye? A quick IMDB check revealed that the manager (bottom) was played by Constantine Gregory. Molliere was none other than Peter Burton (Major Boothroyd in Dr. No)!




Hard to tell from these pictures, but when they make that 'oops' face they're dead ringers.

Granted, one of them isn't a Bond alum but there's a striking similarity between musician and presenter Jools Holland and Mathieu Amalric -

Indeed, Blunts. Quite the resemblance.

Real test is how far Holland can get into a desert with motor oil as his only source of nourishment.

And resisting the temptation to add boogie-woogie piano to the soundtrack.

That too. By comparison we must have Amalric do a pre-recorded New Years Eve show.

Another separated at birth, although they were born 55 years apart!

Kevin McCarthy of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and--where I saw him--the TZ episode, "Long Live Walter Jameson."

McCarthy's a bit more urbane and distinguished, but the resemblance is still quite remarkable, I think.

Honestly, not seeing much resemblance in any of these.

Bond is assigned to cap Putin in retaliation for the Salisbury poisonings. Gotta admit, it's a nice thought.

I wouldn't be drinking the vodka martinis served in the Kremlin.

Nor I, not even if I did literary Bond's habit of dropping pepper into it to sort it out. Be like an old spy film or tv series, he discreetly drugs your drink, you suspect it so switch it, he gets confused and on and on it goes.

Was watching a 1987 episode of Inspector Morse called "The Wolvercote Tongue" (no, it is not pornographic) and saw an actress I thought was Maryam D'abo. But, of course, it wasn't or I wouldn't be posting about it here. Her name is Christine Kavanagh. Lovely lass.
