EUTHANASIA COASTER
“Euthanasia Coaster” is a hypothetic euthanasia machine in the form of a roller coaster, engineered to humanely – with elegance and euphoria – take the life of a human being. Riding the coaster’s track, the rider is subjected to a series of intensive motion elements that induce various unique experiences: from euphoria to thrill, and from tunnel vision to loss of consciousness, and, eventually, death.

That's some pretty disturbing shit.
That guy's quite proud of it. Mengele would surely pat him on the back.

Sounds like a great idea to me. Better than dingy hospital beds, bad food, crying family members, etc.

Agreed. Sounds a lot more fun than rotting away in a nursing home, shitting your pants every few hours.

Unfortunately, not everyone needs to be put into a nursing home to die, but often are. I blame the family of the patient for not taking care of their relative(s). Though this doesn't apply in every case, I'm sure, it seems that families simply don't want to take responsibility for their family members and throw them in these shitball homes for convenience's sake. Then, they visit a couple of times a year, and hope their names are in the will. Quite sad.
Just because someone's near the end of life doesn't always mean that they're uncomfortable, sick of living, and want to be thrown on a Mengele-esque rollercoaster so they can die. For patients with incredibly debilitating illnesses, then perhaps this applies. But, recalling personal experiences, my mother took care of several of my family members when they were at the end of the road. Each of them had cancer, and other disabilities, but were comfortable living in our home or their own homes and being offered some simple TLC.
It's not that hard. Throwing a dying family member on a "rollcoaster of death", or in some dingy nursing home, is just a lazy way of doing things.
I find it incredibly disgusting when it's a parent who is treated so inhumanely. This is a person who has taken care of their children through out their entire life, but their children, as adults, can't take the time out of their day to aid their parent during their last days.
Fucking pathetic, if you ask me.
On the other hand, this might be a fun alternative for death row inmates.

I look at it as a way for someone suffering to get one last thrill out of life. If they love roller coasters, why not go out doing something fun and painless?

What disturbs me the most, is when this designer mentions "population control." Knowing the number of big state, eco friendly, quasi-Malthusians out there today (including Britain's own so called "conservative" party), I wouldn't trust any government with this machine.

Exactly. Nothing in the proposal made it sound as if the device was intended for compulsory use, but more probably as an (eccentric) individual's choice.

Yeah. Seems like the creator of this coaster was born about 100 years too late.
Though I doubt any government would make use of this for "population control". That's far too time-consuming, clean, and humane, compared to other measures.
But, Wade and FS, I see where you're coming from.
Personally, I'd want to be found pumped full of Viagra alongside a couple of hookers in a Vegas hotel room when I'm dead.

I can think of worse ways to go...
I'm currently caregiver to my mother who has Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, she's had this for over 10 years and there's no 'cure', she started off unable to walk properly, and has now developed Dementia. She hallucinates and talks to herself all day long, she's just going to get worse and worse until she dies of her own accord. Previously I'd been caregiver to my father, who developed Dementia and it took him years to die. He thought it was WWII and that he was in hospital and that I was his nurse.
My Da had a lot of other things wrong with him and I often said if he'd been a dog I'd have been arrested for cruelty to animals for keeping him alive in that state (he actually starved to death in the end)
I dare say D'Mother will end up the same, slowly dying by degrees.
