Craig only has 2 under his belt and Solace belongs closer to his arse than belt...but let's see how the third one goes.

Connery was a great milkman.

He's always said that playing Bond wasn't a really a challenge, which is why he got bored of the role. If that really is him speaking, maybe he may just make some surprise appearance at the Bond 23 celebrations.

The Hindustan Times... really? If this "interview" was indeed true though, then good for Sir Sean that he's continued to follow the series.

Well, Craig is certainly the most Conneryesque - both in looks and performance - of all the Bonds who've followed Connery, so perhaps it's no surprise that Connery should be so supportive of Craig's work.

The ONLY part that rings all the way true is his naming the Terence Young films as his favorites.

This does sound like Sean. It rings true. He can like Craig all he wants though but I am not sold.

Connery was never able to witness himself, so he had to go with the next best option.

Though, lets be honest, do we really expect him to drag the current Bond through the mud? All the previous actors are supportive of whatever current regime is in place, mainly because it benefits them more financially than to piss on the franchise like Sean and George did in the 70's.

^This. We've seen all this before, the latest guy getting called the best. Then the same thing happens when the next guy takes over. I like Craig though, just wish he had better people around him.

True, why should he criticize Craig? I'm sure Connery doesn't care one way or another. Pierce might have the right to criticize, but even he was aupportive of Craig ("Go for it - it's a hell of a ride"), although he said he would have preferred to see Colin Ferrell succeed him ("He'd eat their heads off"). Perhaps he only said that to piss BB off (and because Ferrell is also Irish).

Just on age alone, Ferrell certainly would have been more credible given the hot-tempered immature brat scripted for and seen in CR, but whether he'd have been able to handle the moodier vastly mmore interesting Bond in QOS ... I dunno. I didn't even realize Ferrell was a good actor until IN BRUGES, which I just love, so I probably need to reassess him.

Good analysis, but Connery will always be the definitive Bond for me.
