This scene would go well with Perry White standing over Supes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oDTNEEu3Rw#t=1m23s

What I did before approaching her at the diner.
Afterward I ordered her milk.

Gotta have faith in the dude who just made Sucker Punch.
There must be some toe-curling among the WB execs... that's three underperformers for Snyder in a row.

I do have respect for WB in the faith they have in their filmmakers. It's like "hey! You have to make big blockbusters for us! [Watchmen, Batman, etc] but between those you can have our resources and support to make your pet projects [Inception, Sucker Punch, etc]"

So that whole elaborate sequence of Superman visiting to the remains of Krypton that was deleted in SUPERMAN RETURNS (which was supposed to be the original opening of the flick) turns out will be one of the special features for the blu-ray release. Also it's confirmed the first Reeve movie will include the original 2.0 sound mix.

Oh good. I always felt majorly cheated that it wasn't included on the DVD special features -- and a little more than cheated that it wasn't in the movie. I mean, the entire Return to Krypton subplot was just a cheap macguffin to get Supes away from Earth for five years, but it still didn't help the movie to talk about something and never dramatize it.

Just another wrong step in a film that takes nothing but wrong steps.
I'll pass on this. I'm content with the DVDs. I'd like to see the Krypton sequence, though. Hope it shows up on the YouTubes.
Then again, to hear "They Won't Get Me" in DTS...

Michael Shannon is General Zod.
When are these guys at WB gonna learn there are more than 2 guys in the Man of Steel's rogues gallery??

I'm guessing WB wanted this so that Superman would fight someone that audiences were at least familiar with. They could have done that with Brainiac, but again name recognition. That's the key word studios are clinging onto more often these days.

I'm disappointed they've gone for Zod again but I'm curious to see what Shannon does.

On a fair note, Zod has only been a primary villain once and that was 30 years ago, so it's not like they're beating a dead horse *coughcough*lexluthor*coughcough*
Although I'd like to see Luthor, more as a side character like in the Bruce Timm series.

Nothing is confirmed but this plot outline has been around:
"A young reporter named Clark Kent roams the world covering various news stories. When he is compelled to use his secret powers to intervene in a crisis in West Africa, he returns to Smallville to learn more about his origins and the hero he was born to be."

I could live with that. It's a different spin on the origin thing compared to what we've seen on film. That's neccessary.
They'd have to cover why he didn't use these powers before.
Though I don't know how Zod would fit into that.
Some time ago I said something like, "Make him not want to be a hero at first." Then Zod shows up and he's forced to be one.

It would be nice to see journalism be depicted in the films as something of a passion for Clark. I think the most we ever saw of something like that was when he was writing his report on returning to Smallville in SUPERMAN III.
In Byrne's "MAN OF STEEL" Clark is sort of forced to create the Superman persona because he exposed himself to a crowd and Lois Lane after saving a shuttle from crashing. Not because of a great threat. That's what I like about Supes, he takes the initiative. He does it because it's right.
That's what I like about the scene in SR where Superman makes his reappearance. To quote Neal Bailey: "Superman pulls the old anti-Spidey, and highlights the reason I prefer him to Spidey. He's just seen that his girl has turned on him, the world has moved on, and yet, the minute he sees shuttle trouble it's not, "Hmm, should I aid them? Whine, whine, ponder." He's already out the door, no morose ponderment, just BANG, running down the street, pulling shirt open in classic pose and getting to work. Nice."

Which is basically the plot of a 2006 soft-reboot in the comics called Superman: Birthright that re-established Lex as a mad scientist (although still a corporate mogul, he just got rich playing mad scientist) and gave Supes the power to see people's "auras", an undefined bullshit New Age-y concept that never went anywhere

AKA The last thing we need.
Also, that bit with Lex was what really got me into watching Smallville. I found Lex's descent into evil to be way more interesting than Clark's journey to heroism.

Yup, that was the dynamic that got me initially hooked with the show. Any scene with Rosenbaum and Glover was always fantastic to watch. And then mid-show they turned Lionel into a good guy and Lex into a pussy.

Zach Snyder confirms if a second film is picked up it will be based on this.
If they can bring Marlon Brando back from the dead surely it's feasible. ;)
