I was going through my hard drive on an old old computer and I found the BMW The Driver videos with Clive Owen,
along with another video about Clive Owen as Bond made by a Thomas Waldek.
This one:
Then I looked up his channel on YouTube and I found some cool Bond videos he made:

Seems crazy to think the days of "Clive Owen should be Bond!" is nearly a decade old now. That insane 2002-2005 period when every fan had an opinion on who should replace Brosnan for then titled "Bond 21".

Am I the only one who thought Clive would had made a good Bond?
Who else was qualified back then to be Bond?
Craig was not first choice either!!

Sam Worthington and Hugh Jackman were considered too. I'm so very glad it wasn't Worthington who succeeded Brosnan. Jackman may have been interesting...

Ah, the good ol' days of Owen-humping.
Those were fun times on Old MI6, when many were aghast at the thought of Craigster as Bond rather than Brosnan v. 2.0. Some people just refused to take Owen at his word when he repeatedly proclaimed that he did not want to be James motherfucking Bond.

It was a lot like that on other forums too, besides Old MI6. I didn't join that place til early '06, but by that point there were still tons of old Clive Owen threads lurking about and many members with an avatar featuring him.
My thoughts on Owen as Bond? Might have been good. But as you say, he didn't want any part of it and as far as I know EON never offered it to him. He might have been more like Craig's Bond, but with dark hair. When I first saw a pic of him I thought he looked like George Lazenby.

Owen and Bale were and are my only really serious choices for a grownup Bond, though if they had to use the CR script they shot with, Henry Cavill would have been good, since CR's Bond is to my eye and ear as bratty and immature as Maverick in TOP GUN, and Cavill could have done that in his sleep while adding something extra that might elevate it, while coming across as being the right age for being a new double-0 who has not yet figured much of anything out yet.
Even now my first thought of Craig is that pic of him with Brosnan at some expo. where Brosnan, even with a freaky grey beard, looks 8 million percent more Bondlike than the Gollum-cum-Taylor Negron-like Craig. His casting is one of those things that makes me think the timeline in this universe went off the rails like AbramsTrek09, into a reality that needs to be shut down.

Waldek's got an upcoming trailer for THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS. Here's a brief teaser:

Fucking hell, a teaser for a trailer? Even George Lucas has never done that... has he?
