| He's one of my favourite authors of the last century. The true successor to Kierkegaard. |

| At the risk of dumbing the thread down, the last book I read was Scarecrow and the Army of Thieves by Matthew Reilly. It was mostly a return to form for Reilly, after his last few books fell flat, though it could have been better in places. It's got all the classic Reilly elements in place: a desperate last-minute mission, impossible odds, and a tight time limit. The story revolves around Dragon Island, a Soviet-era weapons facility that has been kept online for the past twenty years because destroying it would raise too many difficult questions. Somebody has taken control of it and activated the "Tesla device", a weapon that can literally ignite the atmosphere. With two hours until the apocalypse, a band of Marines and civilians - the only military unit that stands a chance of making it to Dragon Island until the weapon is fired - are sent to the facility to stop the Tesla device and the force occupying Dragon Island. |

| YEAR ZERO :4*: To combat a 2000+ year old virus that is killing billions of people across the planet, genetic scientists at Los Alamos need somebody with the right antibodies, and that means cloning and bringing back to life people who lived in the Year Zero. One of the people cloned claims to have been Jesus Christ. Great premise, kind of a let-down for an ending. If I wrote the movie I'd have ended it with a much bigger, better twist. If you like Michael Chricton you'll or Richard Preston you'll probably like this. Combines archaeology, sociology, bio-genetics, and religion with a deft, balanced hand. Good characterization throughout. A real page turner. THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE :4*: Just as good as the first book, but probably suffers from having more characters than the original. Again, another page turner. Can't wait to see the American film version of 'Tattoo', and to finish reading the book trilogy. |

| I'm decided to read through all the Austens. I had to read Emma for school, and so now with all that buisness behind me I've decided to read Austen probably most well-known novel ... Yeah, really I'm just reading it to picture Colin Firth at every page ... jokes. |

| Pride and Prejudice is probably more entertaining than Emma.
But I still think of all Austen as Regency Mills and Boon. |

But I still think of all Austen as Regency Mills and Boon. Yeah, I'm finding that currently. Hopefully it continues to be this way. |

| I read Mansfield Park last year by Jane Austen. It was recommended to me. I quite enjoyed it. It was rife with interesting insights. I was quite taken with the temptress Mary Crawford. I might pick up another Austen someday.
In the meantime, the last fiction book I read was the latest Eric Van Lustbader, Jason Bourne continuation novel, The Bourne Dominion.
EVL's 7th Bourne, The Bourne Upset is coming in 2012. |

I have 'em. Hence why I like them ... but not in like a men-liking way but more in a I accept my breasts kinda way. That probably didn't make any sense ... actually it does in my mind at least and that ladies and gentlemen is all that really matters in the end. |
