I actually think Moretz is quite talented for a child actress, but she is all wrong for the role, not to mention the utter pointlessness of remaking a movie that was so great to begin with.
Shouldn't the point of any remake be the hope of improving upon the original (beyond the obvious and shameless moneygrab)?

What's the betting they aim for a PG-13/12A rating on this, with the likes of the opening scenes and the 'bucket of blood' scenes gone as a result?

Indeed. And with De Palma's CARRIE, there's nothing to improve upon.
I can already imagine them making this "dark and gritty", loaded with more violence than necessary.

I've got the book lying around, but I've not read it yet. I know it was published in the 70's, and it feels like a story that just wouldn't be the same in a world of texting, etc. At least in terms making a film about it. The themes are timeless n shit.

This remake is going to suck!
They already remade it once for TV and it sucked!!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0319970/
Then they made a sequel that sucked even more!!

De Palma. Spacek. Laurie.
Give me a trio in Hollywood in 2012 that would be right for CARRIE and would trump that Holy Trinity.

don't forget Nancy Allen, Amy Irving, John Travolta.
If I was casting a remake, I would pick
Keira Knightley for the role of CARRIE
she's skinny and weak looking

Spielberg was under an enormous amount of pressure. He brought his own pillow with him from home, and put celery in it, a smell he found comforting. He had no time for anything but work. A female friend of a friend was brought out from LA for recreational sex. She slept with him, and left. It felt like the production would never end …

Christ, how can you cast a 15 year-old for the part.
This movie is gonna be shit.
Body double, perhaps?...
(Horrible idea, but I needed an excuse to post that.)

Ha. I wish I had a female friend lying around. Not lying around dead, mind you. If I become rich and famous, I'll surely exploit it; but under the radar and over the age of consent. I freely admit that. I'll have a fucking harem.
Trust me, many young women in Hollywood will gladly go along with it. Jeff Goldblum co-founded the acting school I went to and plan to go back to. Believe me, he's used the opportunity many times. It's an in-joke there.

Yeah, if any guy says they wouldn't do that, than they're gay or lying.
Celery pillow can stay behind, though. Well, depends on how dirty things get.
